Marquinho1815d ago

My most anticipated game of 2020. Bring it on!

_SilverHawk_1815d ago (Edited 1815d ago )

Hopefully they show the game running on next generation systems and not current gen systems like Xbox one , xbox one x, ps4 and Xbox series x. Hopefully its shown running on a ps5

Fishy Fingers1815d ago

It'll more than likely be PC.

Marquinho1815d ago

Next gen versions aren't ready, so I think there's little chance we'll see them.

ColdSin1815d ago

Did you really just call an Xbox Series X a current gen console? 😂

_SilverHawk_1815d ago (Edited 1815d ago )

Microsoft xbox division "doesn't believe in generations" anymore.

TommyVercetti881815d ago (Edited 1815d ago )

You suck d..k your PS5 is nothing compared to the pc version. Even the Series X version is performing better.

EmperorDalek1815d ago

Lol so with that logic, the PS5 isn't even as powerful as a current gen system?

1815d ago
Z5011814d ago

So, show the game on consoles people don't own and on consoles they didn't even intend on buying the game for?

I don't want to watch another damn thing from this game. I'm already sold. Just waiting for Next-Gen release.

EazyC1815d ago

I genuinely admire your willpower! My eyes will be glued as soon as that stream starts!

Getting the PC version to play it in Native 4k 60fps

Oxen211815d ago

Good luck spending $3000 on your PC. Most of the gamers will pay $500-$600 on a next gen system and good to go.

RazzerRedux1814d ago

"Good luck spending $3000 on your PC."

lol....hilarious how some console gamers like yourself inflate the price of PC gaming.

CaptainHenry9161814d ago

Lol I already have a high end PC 😄

Marquinho1814d ago (Edited 1814d ago )

That's valid if you want a day one 4k/60fps... and have a 2080ti, unless you're not aiming at max settings.

For the best experience below USD1,000 I'm on the edge of playing it on my 2080 super or waiting for the Series X version, which should be even better.

RazzerRedux1814d ago

"2080 super or waiting for the Series X version, which should be even better"

Have doubts about that, but anything is possible I guess. But what definitely will be better than that will be the new GPU from AMD or Nvidia that I'm buying this fall. :-)

Marquinho1814d ago (Edited 1814d ago )

Also upgrading here, but I'm more excited about playing on PC @ native 4K/60fps+ those games that will stick to 30fps on PS5. The jump will be so much more noticeable.

RazzerRedux1814d ago

"those games that will stick to 30fps on PS5"

Nah. It may or may not be "native" resolutions but that isn't that important on consoles anymore. Digital Foundry calls this the post-resolution era. On that PS5 UE5 demo, they could only tell the difference between the 1440p image and a lossless 4k image of the same frame by magnifying the image in photoshop. This idea that PS5 is somehow a 30fps only console has no real basis.

Marquinho1814d ago

Didn't say PS5 isn't capable of 30fps+. I'm saying that most 1st developers (and 3rd party timed exclusives) have chosen to stick at 30fps... and also, since the power gap between PS5 and new PC Cards will be much bigger than with XSX, then it's a no brainer for me where to play games releasing in both platforms (PS5 and PC)... even if I decide not to upgrade, my 2080 Super should perform better, which won't be the case with XSX.

RazzerRedux1814d ago

" I'm saying that most 1st developers (and 3rd party timed exclusives) have chosen to stick at 30fps"

They have? Which devs said that?

"my 2080 Super should perform better, which won't be the case with XSX"

We don't know that to be true at all. We will have to wait for actual benchmarks to have that information.

Marquinho1814d ago (Edited 1814d ago )

Obviously, developers will not "say" it, in the middle of a time when Series X is marketing 60fps, but this is Digital Foundry take on the PS5 show:

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart|30 FPS
Stray|30 FPS
Returnal|30 FPS
Kena: Bridge of Spirits|30 FPS
Demon's Souls|30 FPS, but may offer 60 FPS mode
Destruction Allstars|Probably 30 FPS
Horizon: Forbidden West|Probably 30 FPS
Oddworld: Soulstorm|Probably 30 FPS

As for waiting until everything gets released for comparison... sure, for an exact comparison... but specs are already out there. If we had to wait for everything then you should've never mentioned next gen cards, which haven't even been officially announced.

RazzerRedux1814d ago (Edited 1814d ago )

Sony was showcasing visuals on PS5 with a good amount of ray tracing thrown in which is a huge draw on frame rates. I'm expecting most games to have performance modes like Demon Souls, but that hasn't been announced either. So it is premature to suggest most, any, or even some PS5 games will be limited to 30fps. We simply don't know that at all.

"As for waiting until everything gets released for comparison... sure, for an exact comparison... but specs are already out there. If we had to wait for everything then you should've never mentioned next gen cards, which haven't even been officially announced."

How are you going to compare specs between XSX and RTX 2080 Super? You simply can't. And I'm very much waiting for benchmarks for GPUs as well to decide which I will purchase. That is why I said "GPU from AMD or Nvidia". I don't have benchmarks to determine which is best at this point. That is fundamental basics in PC gaming. Specs do not tell you everything. The teraflops difference doesn't tell you everything. Only actual benchmarks provide the information needed to make an informed decision.

Marquinho1814d ago (Edited 1814d ago )

There's a big difference between having a "Performance Mode" and having a game optimized for 60fps. In a game like God of War, 30 fps was so obviously the target FPS.

On the other hand, Gears 5 looks better than any console game running at that framerate. This is what Microsoft is aiming at for their future exclusives, and according to DF, it looks like Sony isn't.

Sounds like you're expecting Sony to specifically speak about every game's FPS, but it will not happen. They have the weaker hardware and sticking to 30fps is their chance to keep up with the visual fidelity of the Series X. If you keep your hopes on that R&C, Horizon and others will target 60fps as the main focus, I firmly bet you are set for a big disappointment.

"But what DEFINITELY will be better than that will be the new GPU from AMD or Nvidia that I'm buying this fall. :-)"

You realize you're contradicting yourself... do you?

"There's a big difference between having a "Performance Mode" and having a game optimized for 60fps. In a game like God of War, 30 fps was so obviously the target FPS."

No, it is simply a matter of adjusting visuals to achieve the desire framerate. This is common place on PC and easier for devs to do on console's static hardware. Simply having the ability to turn off ray tracing will provide huge gains. Nothing MS has provided suggests their games are targeted to run 4k60 with RT, for example. Those details make a difference.

lol....R&C and Horizon won't be on XSX so there is no visual fidelity to "keep up with". They will stand alone. And yes, I certainly will be disappointed if PS5 doesn't have options for performance vs visuals, particularly ray tracing. That is a major failing in consoles overall that I hope will change.

"But what DEFINITELY will be better than that will be the new GPU from AMD or Nvidia that I'm buying this fall. :-)"

Yeah....I get the point. That is also not confirmed without benchmarks.

Marquinho1814d ago (Edited 1814d ago )

Ok making progress here =)

Anyway. Sony is aiming at something different than MS. Making 60fps your absolute target will always be better than offering a "Performance Mode" in 60fps in my opinion, since you will squeeze every bit of power to get to that target with the highest possible visual fidelity. Let's leave it as that.

RazzerRedux1814d ago (Edited 1814d ago )

Nah, I'd rather have options. Agree to disagree on that.

Inside the ‘Dragon Age’ Debacle That Gutted EA’s BioWare Studio

The latest game in BioWare’s fantasy role-playing series went through ten years of development turmoil

In early November, on the eve of the crucial holiday shopping season, staffers at the video-game studio BioWare were feeling optimistic. After an excruciating development cycle, they had finally released their latest game, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and the early reception was largely positive. The role-playing game was topping sales charts on Steam, and solid, if not spectacular, reviews were rolling in.

HyperMoused1d 14h ago

Its easy they called the die hard fans people in their nerd caves who will buy anything and then went woke to reach modern audiences....insulting the nerds in their caves along the way showing utter contempt for their fan base. very hapy it failed and any company who insults their fan base and treat their customers with contempt and insults, in future, i also hope fail.

neutralgamer19921d 10h ago

It’s disappointing but not surprising to see what's happening with Dragon Age: The Veilguard and the broader situation at BioWare. The layoffs are tragic — no one wants to see talented developers lose their jobs. But when studios repeatedly create games that alienate their own fanbase, outcomes like this become unfortunately predictable.

There’s a pattern we’re seeing far too often: beloved franchises are revived, only to be reshaped into something almost unrecognizable. Changes are made that no one asked for, often at the expense of what originally made these games special. Then, when long-time fans express concern or lose interest, they’re told, “This game might not be for you.” But when those same fans heed that advice and don’t buy the game, suddenly they're labeled as toxic, sexist, bigoted, or worse.

Let’s be clear: the overwhelming majority of gamers have no issue with diversity, LGBTQ+ representation, or strong female leads. In fact, some of the most iconic characters in gaming — like Aloy, Ellie, or FemShep — are proof that inclusivity and excellent storytelling can and do go hand in hand. The issue arises when diversity feels performative, forced, or disconnected from the narrative — when characters or themes are inserted not to serve the story, but to satisfy a corporate DEI checklist. Audiences can tell the difference.

When studios chase approval from a vocal minority that often doesn’t even buy games — while simultaneously dismissing loyal fans who actually do — they risk not just the success of individual titles, but the health of their entire studio. Telling your core customers “don’t buy it if you don’t like it” is not a viable business strategy. Because guess what? Many of us won’t. And when the game fails commercially, blaming those very fans for not supporting it is both unfair and self-defeating.

Gamers aren’t asking for less diversity or less progress. We’re asking for better writing, thoughtful character development, and a respect for the franchises we’ve supported for decades. When you give people great games that speak to them — whether they’re old fans or new players — they will show up. But if you keep making games for people who don’t play them, don’t be surprised when those who do stop showing up

Armaggedon1d 4h ago

I thought the writing and character development were fine. Sometimes things just dont resonate with people.

Releasing a Full Game On a Nintendo Switch 2 Cart Makes Sense

Begone, game-key carts. Full cartridges just work better and here's why.

Game key karts are just digital games.....why keep up the facade

Profchaos2d ago

I didn't bother buying any game key carts for my system despite my preference being physical.
I brought the mkw bundle and that was a digital code but I wasn't going to pay double for the game
I got yakuza 0 digitally as the key card made zero sense to me it costs more and its just a digital game in disguise (I never sell my games anyhow)

darthv722d ago

...obviously. If a game is 64gb or less, it should release on card. If it exceeds 64gb, the key card comes into play. It does suck that Nintendo wont support smaller cards, SW1 games came on anywhere from 8gb to 32gb cards. The cost of using a 64gb card for a game that would fit comfortably on a 32 or even 16 may not be cost effective for some smaller devs. Hence the use of the key card.

Then again, its taking a page out of Sony's book. They mandated the use of DVD media for all games a few years after the PS2 released. Until then, they supported games on CD. Then when it came to PS3, no game was allowed to use DVD, they all had to be bluray regardless.

Now with PS5, they only use UHD media, no regular bluray for games allowed. Even if the game is smaller than a DVD. So i can see Nintendo trying to standardize their game cards. If devs dont want to pay for the use... the key card is for them.

gigoran82d ago

why even bother buying one of the fake game cards? It's just going to be digital anyway. Save yourself the hassle of having to insert these fake cards and just buy it from the online store.

But I absolutely 100% do not agree with Nintendos take this generation. Forcing the new norm price point, and releasing a majority of their titles digitally with no sense of game preservation. Very disappointing.
