Can't expect everyone to give a game 10.. Just makes no sense.. I'm 1 or 2 hours in and it felt too familiar.. Apart from the jaw dropping graphics I felt I was still playing the first one. They added a jumping button, and melee seems more tactical

I hated playing as the other character. I hated every single second of it. The fact you have to look after, upgrade and explore as her was a massive mistake imo. Her motives and character were fully explained within an hour and it felt like masses of padding when they ran out of Ellie story. The whole looking after the kids thing was utterly pointless and just plain boring. Ellie and Diana was a boring relationship, there's no cast of amazing characters like the first game. No way this was the same writer and director. Its a snoozefest of fetch quests and pointless plot filler. Trchnically stunning but a massive, massive letdown after tlou 1.

There is also a certain group on this site that won't accept any criticism of the game. If it's not rated a perfect 10/10 then the screeching begins. The truth is this is a very political game and if you agree with the politics, it's a 10 and if you disagree, it's a 0. I don't really care one way or the other about this game (never played the first one) so I can step back and see both sides are voting with their morals. It sucks that people who have never played the game are giving it a 0. It also sucks when I see a reviewer say "Is the game perfect? No." and go on to give several significant criticisms of the game...and then rate it a 10/10! Seriously, both the user scores AND the critics scores are screwed up for this game and shouldn't be trusted.

No. If you disagree, and have what use to be called "common sense", its at worse -at its most possible worst- a 7. A technically functional game but with narrative flaws based on its prior title.

Would help if the people giving it 0 or 1's had better reasons for scoring it that way outside of their discontent with some story decisions, or being obviously influenced by the SJW inclusion that supposedly exists within the game.

I can respect some people's dislike of the game...or less than 10 reviews. But they are usually the ones that seem like they've played it. Not just saying they did, but able to put it into context with examples from the game, even if broadly written, to show that they have more knowledge of this game than the same information about the game, or the restating the general hyperbole we've seen for months now.

I love my Xbox and I love my Microsoft consoles, but this game is epic and shows why Sony has the best exclusives. They easily dominate when it comes to games like TLU2. I haven't been able to out the game down since it launched.

If the gameplay mechanics are the same as the first one, they are clunky. I am about halfway through with the Remaster of the first one, I started it over for the 3rd time a few days ago.
Unless it gets WAY better, it is definitely not the best game of all time! All of the Horizon Zero Dawn is better.

I liked Horizon Zero Dawn. However, I think it’s stealth and traversal mechanics need more work. And, I feel your right, Horizon Zero Dawn isn’t a true RPG. It comparable to Far Cry and the newer Tomb Raider titles in terms of RPG mechanics.

I didn't find it clunky, I like the character weight, but good news, the controls are vastly improved. Nearly everything in the game is. Prone and dodge add so much to the game. UI and crafting are better. The Ai brings so much tension. I could go on and on.

I'd give it a 5-6 for terrible story/story telling but serviceable gameplay, especially if you are treating it like primarily a stealth game. And thats a 5-6 as in middle of the scale for mediocre, cause its definitely a mediocre game.

The story is weak as hell. Doesn't hold up to the original at all. The backlash has nothing to do with its politics. One of the few things it managed to do right was in NOT preaching its politics too hard so we can go ahead and lay that straw man to rest right now.

This game is better than the hate it's getting man! I don't know what Skill Up and all the critics of the negative review was playing, but it must have been a different game. Last of Us 2 is very much like the first one, and its even better with more action pack set pieces and better enemy Ai to keep the game fresh. Even my friendly Ai Dinah did something stupid and she apologize for it lol!!! Tell what friendly A.I. does that in any game like this? So far I am have a great time playing this game. Yes the story may not be as great as the first Last of Us, but that doesn't mean it's a bad story. Most movies, books, and game sequels are almost never better than the first. Last of Us 1 ended with a high and emotional note. There is something about the relationship between Joel and Ellie that is so heartfelt, you can see it also in this game in ways I am not spoiling here. This game is a 10 out of 10 all the way!

I hate the idea of the game jumping around in terms of timeline. It loses that consistent feel the first game had. I also hate that Joel is out of character in this game. I hate that the ending is bad. I hate a lot of things related to how the story was executed overall. The only thing I enjoyed was the Ellie and Joel flashbacks.

So what you sort of mean is you had this dream of how they lived after the first game and this is not it. People wanted the ‘happy ever after’, ND went life doesn’t work that way, especially in a world full of danger and self preservation. Also to say a person is out of character is a bit odd, only out of character of what you know. Human beings have faults, their main fault is usually failing to follow their own advice.

I don't what you mean by Joel being out of character? And so what if the game jump through timelines, there is a big reason for that and it makes sense. The game is better than the hate dude! This game has the same dna as Last of Us 1 with Uncharted 4 in the mix.

The worst part about it was the game trying to humanize Abby after she killed Joel. It just wasn't possible to do, especially after the way she did it. So they just had the player playing as an irredeemable villain for almost the entire second half of the game. I did love the bridge sniper segment though. At least towards the end of it anyway. But thats kinda the point. How are we supposed to enjoy playing as a character when many, if not most of us were rooting for the opposing team. Every time I got Abby killed I was like "hell yeah" at the killing blow. Especially those done by the infected. That game was hot trash, man.

its so much better. One of the best evolution of the gameplay its almost the end of the huge garbage box that you and to move all the time in first game. They are butthurt because they will never gona have a game with this kind of quality. Even the soundtrack is amazing.

It honestly isn't much of an evolution. Plenty of games have done the stealth/action hybrid just as good, if not better than this since the first game released. Yeah they got rid of the garbage boxes and rafts for the most part, but the traversal is now bland.

I'm only about a quarter of the way through the game, but the soundtrack has been lackluster so far. That big moment early on didn't have as much weight as it should have, the first one had a better score for those moments.

It's kinda made me realise, some people genuinely don't really care about story. For its clunky gameplay faults, RDR 2 is one of the greatest stories told, and I connected with Arthur Morgan more than any other character in fiction. It had a real heart and soul to it.

The story in this game is unforgivably bad, which is PAINFUL considering how great no.1's story was. Gameplay simply cannot make up for it.

Almost done with the game. Would rate it 9.5/10 so far. Only downsides have been some bugs and glitches that required me to restart the game a couple of times. Other than that - excellent game!
