So in order to protest AI taking over your job you walk out on your job so AI gets it without a fight. The landscape is changing and you just stamped your resume with your inability to cope and adapt.

I left a job at a game studio this last year bc I was regularly being encouraged to use Midjourney to generate concepts as well as Marketing materials.I was heavily painting into them, reworking them so a portion of it was mine... but a portion of it was not.

At first, I didn't understand why I fell into a depression... I felt like my soul was being sucked away. I didn't understand the technology, and the more I learned, the guiltier and more dead I felt inside.

I put in my notice, and at least they were kind enough to arrange my departure in a way where I can collect unemployment.

But yea, this stuff is dirty. It's stealing from other artists who did not approve their stuff to be used. I felt like a weight was lifted off of me, even though I'm stressing to find a new job again.

For personal use I'm not against, I think people just wanna gatekeep art rather than embrace a new way of creating things. But when it comes to companies I don't think it's correct. I don't blame you or anyone for leaving a job when presented with a moral dilemma. Writing, drawing, painting, sculpting is a pretty intimate hobby. When you use ai to eliminate the artist, you aren't using ai the way it is intended to be used.

That's the thing the company doesn't pay for the work they stole from artists to make the ai. It's a huge theft of property.
