From Digital Foundry: "With nigh-on 30 titles revealed at last week's PlayStation 5 software showcase, there's certainly plenty of material for Digital Foundry to mull over in its wake - but one of the biggest and most pleasant surprises was the range of games from both first and third party developers using the machine's hardware accelerated ray tracing technology. But what was actually shown that we can say for sure was using hardware RT? What kind of effects were featured and how do they function? And perhaps most crucially, going forward, what does the software showcase tell us more generally about how ray tracing will be deployed in the next-gen console era?"
Today, Sony Interactive Entertainment and Polyphony Digital announced a collaboration between Gran Turismo 7 and Xiaomi.
A recent burst of activity on the social media channels of Gran Turismo's creator, Kazunori Yamauchi, has set some tongues wagging about the possibility of a new marque from a previously unrepresented nation to come to the game series: Xiaomi.
The first piece of the puzzle was a little bit of a m
It would be interesting. I’m all for it. Gran turismo is suppose to be the place to realistically drive cars from all make and models.
The usual update cycle has been broken, with a mid-month Gran Turismo 7 patch to include a Suzuki, a Honda, a Chevrolet Corvette and a Ferrari.
Can't wait to see all the titles that will take advantage of this feature.
Well based on what was shown, seems like you'll get 1 ray trace effect per game depending in what the dev decides to use be it RT reflections like R&C, or RT ambient occlusing, or RT global Illumination, etc. Doing so with a typical AAA game looks like it will demand tii much to allow 60fps so 30 fps will like be all we see with games using raytracing unless they use a more primative graphical style. This is all assumed based on what's been shown and doable at the moment, who knows how they'll continue to improve and optimize over the years
Ray Tracing needs to be used effectively i.e. where its required artistically.
Nobody wants mirror walls and mirror floors.
I hat to expect from ray tracing on next gen ps5...fix the title. It’s super misleading. Guarantee it will be vastly different on more capable hardware.
Wrong thread...
