Five Games That Impressed us the Most During the PS5 Reveal Event

Jacob St-Amour from Link-Cable Writes: "The PlayStation 5 reveal event came and went and it surely left a lasting impression. The obscured console design and visual effects were just the few things that we can fault the show for, but the presentation was all about the games and on that it truly delivered. Not only are these games are new and exciting, they felt like a step forward into the potential of next-generation. Today, we wanted to take a moment to look back at the many great titles that were featured during this event and pick out the five games that impressed us the most and why they are our most anticipated PS5 entries."

What about the best game they showed? Resident Evil 8 ?

gammaray131409d ago

er sorry that was Demon's Souls

WickedLester1409d ago

I honestly don't like what Blue Point has done with Demon's Souls. They've scrubbed all the monochrome creepiness out of the game. The tone has totally changed with its vibrant eye candy.

UltraNova1409d ago (Edited 1409d ago )

Wicked,

I won't disagree there but I can't agree either. As someone who sunk in more than 500hr in DeS I'm ready to put in at least as many hours for something that feels fresh. My only worry is that Bluepoint doesn't alter it's difficulty curve while attempting to modernize it. I really feel trying to mess with the original's clunky movement mechanics for examle, will affect the game to it's core.

Hopefully, Bluepoint will offer a classic controls mode alongside the modernized one (just so noobs complaining the game is difficult can see what true difficulty is all about!).

Retroman1409d ago (Edited 1409d ago )

Ahhh, Sorry that was Spiderman and Ratchet and Clank Rrift Apart, Godfall.

So clearly something for everyone.

Obelisk921409d ago

"It has a little something for everyone."

xX-oldboy-Xx1409d ago

For me it has to be HORIZON: F.W, R&C: A RIFT APART, SM: MILES MORALES, DEMONS SOULS and Kena: B.O.S. - don't forget Little Devil Inside and RETURNAL.

I expect more at the next PlayStation event, Sony has just given a taste of what we can expect in the next year or so.

UltraNova1409d ago (Edited 1409d ago )

I want Sony to showcase more of what next-gen is capable of. Have devs briefly talk us through their creative design decisions and show parts of their games in order to help us visualise it. They should also focus on new Dualsense, audio tech, and ps5 features and how those new features are going to be implemented in their games. Show what they've been planning for PSN/Plus etc and how are they planning to support VR going forward. And of course list all ps5 launch games.

As for pricing, I think we are going to have to wait for a while for that one.

xX-oldboy-Xx1409d ago

Well technically they haven't even showcased the console and its features.

The GDC talk Mark Cerney had was just a taste. I'm sure there's another 2 events before launch.

One for console details, more in depth spec, more game reveals or going into greater detail with games already announced, the other being a tearddown.

medman1409d ago

@xx oldboy
Your list is my list. Not necessarily in that order, but all of those games plus Gran Turismo.

xX-oldboy-Xx1408d ago

Fingers crossed more than a few end up as launch titles.

The_Hooligan1408d ago

Have they announced when the next event is or what the rumor is? Cant wait to see more.

xX-oldboy-Xx1408d ago

I've heard August for the next but might even be next month, after GOT releases.

I'd go a few days after the ms event just to squash any hype that it might generate.

The_Hooligan1408d ago

Thanks for the info brother. I think beginning of August would be good. This way GOT will have been released and won't be overshadowed by Sony's event.

This is my personal list. No order.
1) Kena: Bridge of Spirits
2) Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart
3) Returnal
4) Horizon Forbidden West
5) Demon's Souls

LITTLE....DEVIL....INSIDE!!!

Look I understand everyone's view on HZ, RES8, SPIDERMAN, but we knew these games was coming, and in honesty I really was just expecting a teaser for HZ:FW, kind of like Spiderman Miles. So kudos to the talent at Guerilla Games..

For me LDI wasn't expecting, I had no idea about this game, and after a little research I'm more confident in my decision. The location's, the Art Style, the gameplay, and the depth. Not to mention it's an cross generation exclusive...

Sunny_D1409d ago

Yes! The world and theme from what I saw instantly hooked me. And this is their first game too! Definitely look forward to it.

Zoned1409d ago

This man tells the truth! Little Devil Inside looked amazing and sounds even better, the majority of the games were good but you know what you're getting with the vast majority of them. Little Devil Inside looks to be a fresh, innovative, and new experience; which is becoming increasingly rare in the current gaming climate!

SamTheGamer1409d ago

For me it was

Rachet and Clank
Horizon Forbidden West
Miles Morales
GT: 7
Kena: BoS

Special mention: Stray

I hope this is one of those patents that never comes to fruition.

I already dislike the fact you can pay a significant amount for a online service buy associated games and content on said service and get banned from that service over potentially a misunderstanding the bans are already handed out for flimsy reasons

I'd rather see money invested in a ban that simply removes the offensive players ability to communicate with unknown players allow them to continue party chats with friends but not with Joe blow on cod.

exputers3h ago

Agreed. Blizzard recently banned a college Overwatch 2 player who's dependent for saying "shit." Pretty harsh.

Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors: "I deserve a lot of criticism."

Embracer CEO demonstrates a masterclass in mental gymnastics in latest interview.
"I'm sure I deserve a lot of criticism, but I don't think my team or companies deserve all the criticism. I could take a lot of that blame myself. But ultimately I need to believe in the mission," he said.

lol I’m not a big MS gamer but Sony and a number of others have laid off ton of people as well. Where are the ridiculous articles about them not being your friend? Gaming news is such a joke and these sites wonder why they have to beg for money/patreons or flood with 5x more ads.

Profchaos3h ago

I think the sentiment is corporations are there to make money they are not out friends that are harsh and cutthroat when lt comes to the bottom line so why do we proclaim our love for any gaming company from the rooftops when they wouldn't care about us unless we are buying the next thing.

We need to beore objective with how we view these "teams"

Gridknac2h ago

This is the absolute truth. The only part of you these companies, ALL companies, want to be friends with is your bank account. They don't care what they have to say, who's job they have to cut, or what shady underhandedness they must engage in. Bottom line is all that matters.

Vits1h ago

Because people unfortunately make these companies and products part of their own persona, so when they are scrutinized, they see it as an attack on themselves. There is some neuropsychological research around this phenomenon, but it basically has the same effect as religion. It helps foster a sense of community that humans need to feel comfortable. So that is not happening unless we have a sudden surge of people actually understanding how they work and taking control of themselves.

Magatsuhi1h ago

While it's true Sony isn't a friend either, let's not pretend that they're even in the same ballpark as MS's anti consumer practices. Sony is not a friend but atleast they're not an enemy like MS.

derek1h ago

@twopickles, were you not paying attention? Sony was heavily criticized when they laid off people weeks ago, more than Microsoft did with their massive abk layoffs.

Gamingsince19811h ago

I want to know who thought Xbox was community first anyway lmfao

ChasterMies39m ago

That’s Whataboutism. Sony and other game companies didn’t pay more than $80B to buy up publishers. Microsoft said in court that it wasn’t going to have redundancies and fire people. Microsoft told Xbox owners that they would have a AAA on GamePass each quarter. But here we are with Microsoft Game Studios shrinking. Consolidation doesn’t benefit the consumer, and no company has consolidated more than Microsoft.

BehindTheRows35m ago(Edited 34m ago)

Exactly. They love their SonyToo instead of looking at everything in its totality. You spend $80B to buy up so many pubs/devs, you damn well should have something to show for it.

That said, this article is old and someone is clearly looking for clicks!

z2g4m ago

I’m glad you see the thru the reality distortion field so many on this site don’t. My brother-in-law was just let go from PlayStation (here in PV/LA) literally just weeks ago after taking the job just 2 months before. He quite his previous job that was doing just fine to work for Sony.

ok here is a reality check. Tech companies have been firing thousands of employees the last couple of years.

I find it odd that the percentage of employees sacked from MS

QUOTE
"Microsoft announced approximately 1,900 job cuts across its gaming division, including Activision Blizzard, ZeniMax, and Xbox. 8.6% of its colossal 22,000-strong global workforce. "

is worth writing an article condemning the company, when Sony Interactive fired 8% of its workforce (900 people approximately).

https://news.crunchbase.com...

Is the writer concerned about the percentage of the workforce fired or the number of employees?

Lets not forget that Unity laid off 25 percent of its workforce (1800 people) and Discord laid off 17 percent of its employees.

You also have to take into account the AI issue reported in the article. MS is heavily invested in A.I. They have invested in Open A.I (chatgpt 4+Dalle 3), in Abu Dhabi’s G42 and in French AI company Mistral.

These LLMs have already replaced thousands of jobs as A.I usage becomes more common

https://www.cbsnews.com/new...
https://www.theverge.com/20...
https://tech.co/news/compan...

This is the new reality. Even nvidia CEO said that games will fully A.I generated.

https://www.pcgamer.com/sof...

Nevertheless, no company should be ever viewed as "your friend". MS had numerous anti consumer practices in place and the same is true for Sony (not only in video game space) and Nintendo (60$ dollar games without permanent discounts, remasters of 10 year old game with full price, no console price cuts, expensive joy cons which are prone to drift, to name but a few).

Popsicle2h ago

Must be. Thought it to be common knowledge that no corporation is your friend.

rippermcrip2h ago

Xbox had a community-first image? Since when?

shaenoide2h ago

Any given company is not "friendly"...
