A rocky start? More like a disastrous start.

I have seen people say it's uninstalling itself, not installing at all, not launching. Others have said reinstalling just makes another copy of the game taking up a ton of space on their hard drives.

Even I have had issues, and I'm not somebody that runs into problem like this often at all.

I was playing fine, I took a break, came back to play and now the game won't even launch. On the Microsoft Store app, it just says the app has encountered a problem and needs to be reinstalled. I have heard that this has been the case for tons of people, and with how long it takes to download right now, it's a painful process, especially if you have to do this multiple times.

Even if you do get on, there is no point playing because the servers can barely cope with the amount of people trying to get on. It's like they didn't expect that a large amount of pc players were going to join, even when they were warned about it. They don't have enough ships to handle the player base right now. Japan has 10 (I think) North America has 3.......but it's not just North America trying to get on, it's people from all over the world.

Honestly, it's been one of the worst launches for a game I have ever seen.

dont use that MS app launch it from start-up :P

Doesn't fix it. I hate the MS app and don't use it. I pin to the start and launch that way. Every time I've restarted my PC it forces a reinstall and makes the old files unaccessible. What's bad is I've never had files on my PC I can't understand how to get into. I try to figure out how to open the Windows app files to delete the old files and it's not even letting me. I'm so glad I decided on installing to my external HDD instead of my NVMe drive. I'd have been PISSED

I think it's the first major launch where I don't have any problems.

Yup so far it's taken about 170GB off my harddrive. I was at like 320GB and well under 200 now. Every time I restart my PC it does it. If I leave it on it's fine. But the problem is the dumb Windows Update automatically restarted my PC when I was sleeping and F'd me the second time.

I couldn't believe how bad my system was freezing with a GTX 1080 and a 8700k when the game says Nvidia is the way to play LOL. Lobbies are a joke and legit drop to like 1fps. When in dungeons etc game is perfect. But couldn't even watch the concert without it freezing every 2 minutes. Only reason I'm playing still is I bought the $60 USD ($80CAD) pack because I was just happy the game came. To see 3 full ships, a bunch of freezing up. Uninstalling etc. If I didn't activate my mission and premium passes I'd have said screw the game until it's fixed.

WoW is a mess and it will continue to be a mess. Still, the less-developed MMOs are going to have trouble gaining a fan base because they lack content right now. Even if people do flock to FF14 or BDO, they'll go back to WoW if they fix enough features or give players a shred of hope.

Didn't know people still played this game

Jiub1079d ago

Fewer people for certain but still a lot of people.

gleepot1079d ago

Nah, I'll keep playing the game with the millions of other people. The writing on the wall says "game is not dead" even though people have claimed it is for 15 years.

I'd guess that people are going to filter out but then come back for the next expac when the turmoil is over. I do worry about content delays, though.
