Saints Row The Third is really blurring the line between remake and remaster - Expansive

Saints Row The Third Remastered has been so well put together that it genuinely feels like it’s starting to blur the line between the two definitions.

Sperasoft Studio haven’t just touched the game up and given it a new lick of paint, this is an enormous upgrade from the PS3 / Xbox 360 version. In fact, it’s hard to see how the game can be improved upon any more in its current form, with every expectation exceeded.

It’s built from the ground up with new assets all around making it a remake more than a remaster

KyRo1845d ago

It's largely the same with higher textures and a new lighting system which gives the game overall a fresh look but it's nowhere near the level of a remake.

blackblades1845d ago

Remake is building from the ground up aka FF7. Remaster is just taking the same game and making it better which includes increasing the resolution adding textures etc...... and no change to gameplay. Port is just the same game with same issue same looks basically no difference.

Immagaiden1844d ago

@ Ky

The entire game has new assets all around. That’s completely different from the Saints Row 4 remaster years back

@ Black

FFVIIR is not the standard of what a remake is.

If you saw this game you’d see it’s not just better textures. They’ve redone the entire game from the ground up. Digital Foundry even did a piece about it

They’re not the same models, they’re completely new ones

it looks really good on my PC (Maxed), I was and still am shocked at how the game looks i was expecting far worse actually. The gameplay mechanics are still a bit "OLD" but it feels really good and i forgot how fun this game is.

I just call it a graphical remaster since it's exactly the same game in terms of gameplay (something that is core to me) but I know not everyone agrees with that statement.

I put about 50 hours into playing Sparkle Unleashed.

SurgicalMenace871d ago

Sparkle is a very addictive experience.

Babadook7871d ago (Edited 871d ago )

Nice reminder.

I added Vice City and Metro Exodus.

Mr Logic871d ago

It doesn't work like that. Extra works just like Gamepass or Netflix. Once the game is gone from Extra, then you can't play it. It does not function like regular PS+ where you "claim" the game and then can play it in perpetuity as long as you have an active account.

Knushwood Butt871d ago

Yep, I confirmed this with RDR2 a couple of months ago.

CobraKai870d ago

Is there an average life span for a game before it gets removed? I have a few games on GP I started but couldn’t finish cuz they’re gone. Now there’s this feeling of having to playthrough games before they go. I shoulda just bought em outright.

jznrpg869d ago

6 days is enough time for for Metro . Probably not for Vice City though I’ve never played it

Pedrof870d ago

Guess I'll hurry on playing Saint's Row 3 Remastered.

MONOLITHICIDE870d ago

How come content gets removed? Also why are there barely and ps1 ps2 ps3 games on there.

Smitty2020870d ago

Wish they would just add more classics

jznrpg869d ago (Edited 869d ago )

I believe they want trophy support before they put it on the service so they have to patch them in first .
I hope they do get the best jRPGs of PS1/2, actually just about all JRPGS would be my preference but that’s asking a lot especially since they don’t own many of the IPs. They do own IP they haven’t put on it yet . The service is new so there is still hope for more .
Unfortunately it’s very possible we are the minority who want old games on the service and mainstream want PS4/5 games mainly is my guess.
I am going to post wherever I can and let Sony know many of us older fans want a lot more PS1/2 games on the service or even just to purchase would be fine with me but preferably both .
Hopefully they do more games like they did Arc the Lad , Rogue Galaxy , Dark Cloud 1&2 , Okage etc . But I agree they need more .
I only want the old games with trophies as I’m sure I own just about everything I would want to play but my versions don’t have trophies.

Hope they go back to steam codes after this one

MadLad1218d ago

I can't stand EPIC anymore, but that's not a bad deal.

RedDevils1218d ago

I'm still don't understand why people complain about it? It's just damn games store/launcher. You buy it or get it game for free and you launch the game.

MadLad1218d ago (Edited 1218d ago )

They are the only guys on the market trying to wall off third party content.

I like keeping the open PC market an open PC market. They'd rather buy timed exclusivity to keep games from the open market than use those millions to bring original content to market.

It's not simply about the storefront, though that's a pretty abysmal offering, itself.

RedDevils1218d ago

Oh I see, it about the dirty tactic of preventing competition from selling certain games, i.e PS, Xbox and Nintendo doing in the console market. Oh well I only get their free games anyway.
