Assassin's Creed Valhalla Won't Launch On Steam

Ubisoft has confirmed that Valhalla will only be sold on only one third-party store, the Epic Games Store. The game will also release on PC through Ubisoft's Uplay service.

Always just get Ubi games on Uplay anyway, always worked well enough for me.

RazzerRedux1827d ago

Same here. The games always open the Uplay app anyway so unless there is a significant discount, Uplay is the way to go.

IanTH1827d ago

And given that when you buy it on Epic, you'll just end up ultimately getting access through Uplay anyway lol. Happened when I bought The Division 2 for $5 during the December holiday sale.

At least it is a straight key redeem now, unlike a couple of older Steam games I own where both Uplay & Steam have to run for it to be authenticated - what a clusterfug.

If there is a company that really profit thanks to the EGS that company is definitely Ubisoft. They got money from Epic all while making their own platform look like the superior one.

Wonder how long the exclusivity is for

ElementX1827d ago (Edited 1827d ago )

This is one of the reasons why I will buy next-gen consoles even though I have a PC. My game collection is fragmented enough between PC, Xbox, and PS. I don't want 5 storefronts on my PC, Steam is the only one I use. I can buy whichever next-gen console version runs the best and I don't have to wait around for a Steam release.

Sephiroushin1827d ago (Edited 1827d ago )

Ha dont want 5 stores on pc but can handle all consoles... You probably has an origin and an uplay account if you play on consoles, as well as a Microsoft account for xbox /game pass, so idk but thats kind of bs, id understand it if you didnt wanted to make acc but even on consoles they are required... Just would need to add an app that takes a few megas, that can be disabled from launching when you turn on the pc and could launch the app whenever you want it to and this is coming from someone that also plays on consoles and prefer steam!

ElementX1827d ago (Edited 1827d ago )

No.... I have years worth of games on Xbox, PS, and Steam. I'm not going to start buying games on Epic, Ubi Store, EA Origin, GOG....... I said it's fragmented "enough". If I want to play a game, I don't want to have to stop and think "where did I buy it from?" I don't want achievements/trophies, friend lists, etc spread out, either. I have money and am willing to spend it.

In addition, some games from EA and Ubi don't have Steam achievements, I enjoy getting them.

RazzerRedux1827d ago

So multiple consoles makes sense but multiple stores on a PC doesn't? I don't get it.

Princess_Pilfer1827d ago

Get a launcher.
Launchbox, Hyperspin, something like that.
Or just have the GOG launcher auto-detect your UPLAY/Epic/Steam/Origin games and it can handle launching those along with your GOG games. The "multiple platforms" thing has been an issue for people who use emulators for *ages,* and there are lots of solutions floating around to put all your games in 1 place.

ElementX1827d ago

I appreciate the suggestions, however my achievements would still end up all over the place.

Princess_Pilfer1827d ago

And they're not all over the place when you spend a thousand extra dollars on 3 extra consoles instead of spending maybe 50 tops on a launcher (if you get a *really* fancy one instead of just a free one that works fine.)

They absolutely will they always drop bad news right before the June showcase I bet they are waiting until after doom to do it.

Already one leaker hinting at it

"Already one leaker hinting at it"

I could be that leaker. Lol

It´s *obvious* that Gamepass prices will increase in the future like everything else.

But the fact that they haven´t yet shows that they don´t have plans to increase its price yet, which is awesome for us, Gamepass subscribers.

darthv725h ago

...and even if they do, I will still sub to it as [to me] its the best deal in town if you just want to play a large selection of games with no commitments.

people that want to grumble and complain about no ownership... yeah. that is what i mean by no commitments. And nothing is stopping me from buying the occasional title if it suits my fancy. i do that now already.

MrDead17h ago

MS buying up some of the industries biggest publishers, IP's and removing competition between major publishers means $80 games are here. This is MS saying to gamers, f**k you pay me if you want to keep playing the IP's you love.

This is what happens when more and more is owned by fewer and fewer and it's not going to stop at $80. No doubt now MS has opened the flood gates others will follow.

Thanks MS for endless proving that you're the worst.

slate9115h ago

With that logic, didn't nintendo open the flood gates for the $80 price tags? Lol

crazyCoconuts15h ago

Even worse, chickens, for what they're doing to those egg prices!

Obscure_Observer14h ago

"This is what happens when more and more is owned by fewer and fewer and it's not going to stop at $80. No doubt now MS has opened the flood gates others will follow."

Your ignorance and hypocrisy knows no bounds.

Nintendo started this $80 trend, just like Sony started the $70 price for games, but no one here ever heard you call them out.

ravens5213h ago

Sony didn't start the $70 price tag, Take 2 did with the release of NBA 2k21 in August of 2020. Get your facts right Observing Obscurely

Obscure_Observer13h ago

@raven52

Yes, they did. With ALL of its first party games!

DivineHand12513h ago

The tarrifts should not impact subscription costs it is already high as it is right now.

ocelot0712h ago

Everything is going to go up. MS only 6 months ago or so changed GP where you needed ultimate if you want all day 1 games. Wouldn't be surprised if by the end of the year they raise the price to $25-$30. Wouldn't be surprised if Sony also raise the price of ps+ and Nintendo doing it for their sub.

Fonsecap7h ago

The price adjustments were justified,by them, because of trump's tariffs. Is game pass also affected by tariffs, it's a survive not a end product?
