Perfect scores for this game makes me wanna throw up. All the extra/changed stuff feels very Nomura. If anyone doesn't know, that means the writing gets awful. Especially at the end of the game, It's gotta be one of the biggest "I clapped when I saw it!" moments ever. But the entire thing is completely out of tone nonsense.

Too bad. Guess you’re going to be puking a lot these days. This game is getting a lot of 10s, and the gameplay and story are amazing imo.

They aren't, all the new additions to the story only hurt the game. And If your not a returning fan, you won't understand a few important scenes in the game AT ALL. The end will be especially confusing to any new comer.

Remake, Remaster or reimagining, it should be a perfectly accessible story from beginning to end. Simply put, it's not.... And pretending the dumb parts of the story don't exist, is disingenuous.

Combat is ok, love it or hate it, it's the most competent combat since....10? Possibly 12 (which was also ok). It's still needs more depth to be amazing, and bots need to be reworked or bring the gambit stuff back.

There are other problems with padding, filler, side quests linearity. But those are nothing compared to the games real problems.

Music was kinda 50/50 too, some decent tracks through out, but it didn't bring back (or meet) the originals charm. I would never listen to much of it in my free time. Crazy motorcycle remix was pretty cool.

Regarding the combat. It's the best jrpg combat system ever, easily beating 7 original, never mind 10 and 12. And I would classify it as rpg not arpg because the menu nearly stops the action. The Materia system too is absolutely amazing here imo.

As for the story and in particular the ending, sure it was a surprise to those who played the original, but still loved because it gave us a real climax (and ending) after a 40+ hour game. It's also loved by newcomers. Notice the majority in either camp liked the ending in the poll found here. (2 to 1)

Music is some the best ever. It seems like you're just committed to downplay the game as much as possible. I don't agree with you at all, and I think you're in the minority.
