For years now we've been waiting for Final Fantasy 7 Remake to come out, and now that it's here it isn't anything to gloat about. Ya, it's nice to hear the voices of our characters and see them in amazing action scenes.
Big publishers who haven’t been able to bring their biggest multiplatform games to the Nintendo Switch due to its relative lack of processing power are racing to release ports of these titles on the more powerful Switch 2.
After seeing the performance and quality of the games being inferior on switch 2 I'm curious to see the sales when released for switch 2 because those games are available now at discounted prices on pc handhelds and consoles with versions of those games far superior to what was shown on switch 2. Im wondering if millions of gamers will buy inferior versions of older games for switch 2 when they have better avenues of experiencing multiplatform games in way better quality
Yes. The answer to your question is yes.
To us those are inferior versions. To the people who Nintendo is marketing the switch 2, they are not. They don’t have other gaming consoles or gaming pcs. They have phones/tablets, maybe a work laptop.
Not sure if they will sell those versions for $70 or $80. But at $40 it is possible that they will sell well.

It will. Isn't a chance on this planet its going to Xbox. Switch gamers buy games that's why it's on there, only wasnt already because it couldnt run it. Xbox players aren't interested in these types of games, and the fact they'd have to make 2 new console versions compared to 1 on Switch. Isn't worth it

It will also run current gen games like Split Fiction, Star Wars: Outlaws and the upcoming Borderlands 4, to name a few.

that was my thought too, they made a huge deal about the new performanboost when we had this sorta thing with x1 and ps4 already.
Console features 4K resolution up to 120fps. Plus DLSS and Ray Tracing support confirmed by Nintendo.
I think it will be more on par with the Xbox Series S rather than the PS4 Pro.
Will have to see I guess, most of the games they showed were cross gen and ran on PS4 and base X1, elden ring looked a bit rough if that was in game. Borderlands 4 doesn't look like much more graphically impressive than 3 to me, but as we've seen with switch 1 ports there'll probably have to be compromises for current gen games.
Every multiplat is released on Xbox series S and switch 2 is around its strength but with newer hardware and better dlss and vrr so it probably will have better performance than S
@MD I think it's a pipedream, but I'd love to be proven wrong and would find it funny if it could somehow outperform the S. But i've not seen anything from the leaked specs or otherwise that suggests it's around series S level, more around PS4 and PS4 Pro level, which is to be expected from a handheld device, I think it has more RAM than the S though?
@Crash it has more memory than series s and memory seems to be the main problem with series s. Now thinking about it, it’s quite interesting that MS decided to go with 8gb of ram while one X already had 12gb of ram.
@md, ms has the opportunity to use ssd space as a memory cache but have not implemented it. It could help alleviate the memory issues devs say about the SS.
This is something MS has years of experience with in their OS division. Virtual memory. Switch 2 has 256gb of storage but they never gave specs on cpu/GPU or ram... some are saying that 256gb is shared with system ram. And it could be dynamic too.
When I saw how much the console and games cost online it might as well already be scalped. The console price is basically the same as the PS5 and the games cost twice as much as I usually spend.

He should have done it in Dreams though, the limitations of having done it in LBP are obvious.
ah Dreams had so much potential, I think they should have released it on PC. one can only dream about dreams sale and popularity on PC. PC has modding/creative crowd and I think it would have been a hit
Development on the next game in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy might be further ahead than we thought. In a video discussing the series, the project leads say they are "hard at work" on the finale, right after launching Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
This comment was made by Remake and Rebirth director Tetsuya Nomura, who says that he and the scenario writer Kazushige Nojima are already working on the next game. Better yet, composer Nobuo Uematsu says that he'd be "honoured" to return for the finale, despite previously fearing that he doesn't have the "strength" for another game.

This is something most crtics bring up... but they still gave the game 9+ score. As big of a deal as you are making it, a VAST majority of players were just fine with the graphics compared to waht they got with Rebirth

While I'd guess they're probably not going to do much else about it at this point, just because they're working on the sequel doesn't mean they can't have someone working on the visual issues for Rebirth. Likewise, it also doesn't mean they're not working on a DLC for it either.
Either way, I'd put money on it that they'll update the game for PS5 Pro.

As much as I love FF7, they have really milked it to death, 2 compilations of FF7 which includes novels, games, mobile games, movies and animation...
They really need to put more effort into newer FF games.

Well when you have Tetsuya Nomura hands on something, that is what you get. Whether you like it or not that's another thing.
I don't think they should make remakes like this anymore, and they won't that's what they said also. It takes too long and it just fragments the game too much for my taste. And i'd prefer a more 1 to 1 remake with maybe a slightly smaller budget so that it would actually be made in a reasonable time rather than these 10+ year projects.
nomura doesnt ely that much of a role in the trilogy, its Nojima u need to blame ha.
as for the og, there are mods u can use for that.
we'll never get an updated og game. it would take them years to finish it, even if its 1:1
nobody will buy a 1:1 remake, they already know what is going to happen exactly... and you can't properly remake a 20+ year old game 1:1 anyway, so much needs to be done to bring it to modern standards, that you have to change some things.

They did a Remaster for Crisis Core, which seemed near impossible due to a licensing issue not too long ago. I wouldn't be surprised if they do the same for Dirge of Cerberus before part 3.
I do worry what they'll do with part 3 though. They're not just going to abandon the nonsense. Rebirth was like 98% fantastic, but those whispers moments and their take on what is one of the most iconic scenes in video games ever just upsets me.
i had 118h at the end. with everything done minues the queens blood stuff. and i absolutely loved every minute of it
Only one thing I hated it and it was the relic hunt for the sand spot next to the flying saucer. I hated that mini game for the relic. Killing those cactus with Aerith was annoying.
I like the remakes better than the original that I grew up playing back in the 90s... they are doing it right. And that soundtrack... I still jam the Gongaga theme all the time.
I completely agree. They had more than enough time to make the game we've begged for and deserved. Why remake something if you're changing almost everything about it and you still can't release it as one full game?! They wasted time reimagining it and coming up with new characters and storylines. It's not like they didn't know we wanted it until recently. They started teasing it way back in 2005 before the PS3 released. A simple 1:1 HD remake would've been perfect. ala Resident Evil 2 remake. But noooo. Square-Enix sucks. And Eastern developers wonder why they're so far behind Western developers. Capcom not withstanding, it's because they're not efficient. They waste time instead of just doing.
Its a good game, but calling it the Final Fantasy VII Remake..when it is like 10% of the classic Story ..but with a lot of filler materia..l added I wonder when the whole Remake is complete. In 2030? No..this is not the remake I wanted and expected back when it was revealed at the E3..2015.

I really hope when this is finished and they move onto Final Fantasy VIII or IX they just do the game as it is, not adding any filler crap which feels like it's just there to stretch the game out.
Developing the Orphanage twist before it happens in FF VIII or giving us more clues about the Angel of Death in FF IX sure but not pointless side quests or new characters when you didn't need to.
