I’m going to buy this game!

indysurfn1893d ago

Wait wait what? If it is decent it will force me to get a xSeriesX.

spicelicka1893d ago

This is the most underhyped game, which good because it seems like it'll be a nice surprise.

monkey6021893d ago

It's an unfortunate side effect to the genre. Xcom, Phoenix Point, Mutant, Gears and now empire of sin / desperados all had or have the same build up and lukewarm reception in sales.

I cant wait for Gears Tactics though. It looks like it made the genre jump incredibly well

timotim1893d ago (Edited 1893d ago )

Well...if you add too much hype than all we hear is how over overhyped Microsoft is making this game haha. I just want a good game, if it is, gamers and Game Pass will see to it that the word gets out.

KillBill1892d ago

Under hyped because all the Gears fans mainly reside on console only and do not appreciate the slight of the game being PC only for any period of time.

mynameisthumper1893d ago

I'm so excited for this! The end of the month can't come soon enough :D

NeoGamer2321893d ago

Microsoft is improving first party offerings pretty dramatically this year.

First Ori and now Gears Tactics, and I am also hoping Minecraft Dungeons will be a good dungeon crawler!

Then, Halo Infinite and hopefully Forza Motorsports 8 to start the gen at the end of the year! Nice!

NeoGamer2321893d ago (Edited 1893d ago )

2017
Halo Wars 2
Phantom Dust
Forza Motorsports 7
Super Lucky's Tale

2018
Sea of Thieves
State of Decay 2
Forza Horizon 4

2019
Crackdown 3
Gears 5

2020
Ori and the Will of the Wisps
Bleeding Edge
Wasteland 3
Minecraft Dungeons
Gears Tactics
Halo Infinite
Forza Motorsports 8
Flight Simulator

I don't know how you cannot call that a dramatic improvement.

King_Noctis1893d ago

Care to elaborate as to why is it a “no”?

Dragonscale1892d ago

@neo, are we supposed to be impressed by that lol.

@n9p

We don't know what is coming next year so how can you say it is set to be "bland"?

MS is definitely improving their game output.

1892d ago
NeoGamer2321892d ago (Edited 1892d ago )

@shaggy2303
I am talking about "first party output" not "exclusives". Even Sony will be publishing on XSX this next gen for MLB The Show 2021.

@n9p
We already know that Microsoft has more first party content in the pipeline. Ever Wild at Rare, Hellblade 2, Playground Games RPG, The Initiative has an unannounced AAA game, Obsidian has two game teams and only one announced game (Grounded), Compulsion Games is working on an unannounced game, Coalition is working on a new Gears game, Double Fine is finishing up their next project, and Undead Labs has to be working on a next gen project since State of Decay 2 shipped in 2018.

@Dragonscale
The content is diverse and impressive for 2020. Sony has deliver Dreams and announced Ghosts and TLOU2 for 2020 so far. We can assume they have a new big hitter for PS5 launch. But, the reality is that 2019 was pretty dry for Sony published games. Microsoft has delivered a highly rated platformer in Ori, a MP brawler that isn't getting good reviews, a couple of RPGs (Wasteland 3 and Minecraft Dungeons), a turn based strategy game, a first person shooter, a flight simulator, and probably a racing simulation. Almost all of these games are being delivered by studios that are known to deliver quality games above 80 on Metacritic. That is exciting for gamers. In the case of Minecraft Dungeons and Wasteland 3 it is also exciting for PS gamers. Minecraft Dungeons also for Switch gamers.

I don't understand the "never seen before" title. We've had many games of this genre and combat style before.

While there’s likely already a list behind closed doors, one can still speculate and offer logical suggestions for titles new and old that should find their way into the PlayStation and Switch libraries.

Single A games and live service games. Those make sense

S2Killinit460d ago

None of it makes sense. But its happening.

Ps5conehead460d ago

That’s up to Microsoft they want return on there investment. From buying up those publishers. That’s what there in business for. And they made a mistake putting day one exclusive on game pass. So now Microsoft wants to profit any way they can.its called buisness . Just like Sony putting games on pc a year are two after ps5 launch.
So if they can make money off PlayStation and Nintendo. They will do that. And I bet soon real soon they will release some aaa exclusives .and I bet one day it will be same day release

TheEroica460d ago

Sony gamers begging for Xbox games.... Who would've thunk it?

BISHOP-BRASIL460d ago

Yeah, because random site off the internet represents all Sony gamers, they have the letter of attorney and all...

S2Killinit459d ago

Lol what a spin. You dizzy?

AsunaYuukiTheFlash459d ago (Edited 459d ago )

We don’t care about shovelwares. Get that junk out of PS5

StormSnooper459d ago

More like MS begging to put their games on PlayStation.

TheEroica458d ago

Keep begging Sony gamers!

Friendlygamer460d ago

Some of these seem to be exclusive for lack of enthusiasm of the publisher rather than because of deals. A lot of cool indies skip ps for some reason like katana zero, el paso, elsewhere and gunbrela

S2Killinit460d ago

Even more indies skip xbox. We know that right?

Friendlygamer460d ago

Quality over quantity, Microsoft got some really interesting and curated niche games on their machines, maybe in part because of gamepass

S2Killinit459d ago

Quality and MS are not things you bring up in same sentence.

shinoff2183460d ago (Edited 460d ago )

Alot of indies skip xbox to. It goes round and round. Personally I think your off base on that but no need to have the argument.

Friendlygamer460d ago

Between katana zero, valheim, Battletech, el passo... I don't feel off base. maybe ps got a million of light novel games that will never release on Xbox but like I've said, I'm talking about niche games highlights, the 10%.

Heck, it's probably thanks to Microsoft that the s.t.a.l.k.e.r games came to console ps included, meanwhile Sony backwards compatibility continues to be extremely anemic.

And I'm sure most ps5 users are happy to ignore these games and just play wathever new 3rd person action game is trending but it's cool that Microsoft gives some love to smaller audiences and software preservation

shinoff2183459d ago

Again your off base just to be snide. All it's showing though is your ignorance.

One light novels wtf is that even. Ps has plenty of pretty damn good indies.

Speaking of indies and ms being responsible. You know F.I.S.T. of course you do alot of you guys just support gamepass. Well here's a history of Sony being responsible for helping indies. Look up the China project from Sony.

Lastly lol your ignorance showing again. Sony has plenty of games. Personally third person is better then first anyway but that's besides the point. Sony gets so many games that xbox doesn't get because yall don't support the games. Jrpgs being a great example. I personally am not into every Sony first party game. Alot of us aren't. On the other side you don't get to eat often so you gobble up everything. Me personally God of War not my cup, etc. For me I'm into jrpgs and ms just can't touch Sony on those. Again because the Xbox base doesn't support it. Devs dont wanna waste their time or money. Hit me up when falcom develops a game over there.

Speaking of third person narrative games. Aren't yall drooling over hellblade 2. The first one was Sony exclusive at one point. Another not my cup game. Showing we don't have to fall in line and agree we love everything Sony puts out. The facts are they sell though unlike elsewhere(not nintendo)

StormSnooper459d ago

You are same person as GamerRN, yes?

Abnor_Mal460d ago

They really think PlayStation fans would want to play Redfall? Pfft.

Personally nothing on that list would be any game I’d want to play.

TwoPicklesGood460d ago

I’d absolutely love Hellblade 2, Palworld, and Quantum Break on ps5 as I’m sure tons of others would too. There’s nothing wrong with wanting games from another console and its sad that people try to act like they aren’t interested in them.

shinoff2183459d ago

While indont agree with the games. I agree with the point. Your not wrong.

DarXyde460d ago

Sunset Overdrive makes very good sense. Palworld might.

Don't know about the others. Hellblade II does make sense given the original launched on PS4 first. Quantum Break was a massive letdown for me. I absolutely hated the whole TV show thing and I don't think anyone should have to relive that on modern hardware.

The Gears of War series has been a consistent deliverer of quality for Xbox, but which games are the best?

KicksnSnares1094d ago

Gears of War is my favorite video game franchise, and the Locust is my all-time favorite faction.

My rank list:
1. Gears of War 2
2. Gears of War 3
3. Gears of War 1
4. Gears of War 4
5. Gears of War 5
6. Gears of War Judgment (No Locust in multiplayer was a disgrace)

ChasterMies1093d ago

Agree 100% with this ranking. The campaign in Gears of War 2 is among the most fun campaigns ever made. It’s been downhill from there.

Zombieburger6381093d ago

I’d say gears 2 and 3 are pretty even. I absolutely loved both of them.

darthv721094d ago

2 is still my favorite but 5 is also up there (for me). Then I'd say 1, 3, 4 and Judgement. Tactics isnt the same type of game, so it seems odd to rank it among TPS when its a strategy game. So I make that one all its own. Pretty fun game too.

Jericho13371094d ago

The first is and has always been the best one imo - the story, the levels, the set pieces, the soundtrack - as close to perfect as a campaign can get.

I’d say the series had been on a continual downhill slide until 5.

Om4ever1093d ago

Naaaan ... 2 is the best by far

MadLad1094d ago

3
5
2
1
4
Judgement

I love the series as a whole, but 4 was pretty by the numbers, and Judgement was just ok.

LoveSpuds1094d ago

I played them all since picking up a Series X about 7 months ago. Personally, I don't think time has been kind to the earlier games and they feel very slow and repetitive to play. Whilst the newer games may be prettier, they stick with the original gameplay mechanics too much in my view so as a whole series of titles, I think they are pretty average games.

Not to say they weren't fun and I have a lot of nostalgia for 1 and 2, I just think there are far better action games out there.
