Isn't the PUBG "universe" essentially a blank slate? I thought the general point of using a license was access to distinct characters or settings. To my knowledge PUBG doesn't really have that.

Glen Schofield is a top developer imo, but I don't know what he gets from this other than the PR of using the name.

He should just leave this idea alone and go make another deadspace or a reboot of some sort.

His strength is clearly new IP or games that are slightly outside of the box and super innovative.

I'll keep an eye on it because of who is making it, but I agree, I'd rather he done his own thing than build someone else's brand.

That what im saying this is not a new ip.. if anything he has to limit him self as to stay in some boundaries that define pubg even though i know its an empty canvas but he still has to somehow make it atleast be relatable to the ip name and identity

Well I would just say I don't think he's attached to the license if he's not being given the freedom he wants, to do the things he envisions for it.
I personally would love to see a pubg narrative story work itself out,
I think that would be great, especially if well done, and well done is something you can pretty much count on with him as director.

that being said,
the idea of him working on another Dead space would be fantastic,
but he doesn't own that license and they would have to give up the kind of control that EA is notorious for not even considering letting go of.

and lastly,
I would certainly love to see him create his own thing, but obviously securing funding is a big factor, and it's pretty for certain he can't do it on his own, he's a good creative mind
Who knows how to get a game built and shipped,
but he doesn't have his own studio/ people to build something with.
it's sort of like a rod Ferguson situation, you put him in a studio and he'll get things done,
but he doesn't have his own thing.
