Such an awesome time to be a gamer (even if the world is going through some tougher times at the moment). It seems that regardless of the choice you make this time around, you'll be set for some an awesome combo of amazing hardware combined with the all-important software support.

For those who want a bit more about the possible impact of the CPUs inside the next-gen consoles, NxGamer has an awesome video on it here: https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Was there really that much capability difference between Sony and MS ever? There have been power differences, but by year 2-3 of the cycle the games have all tended to be pretty near the same in framerate and graphical capability.

“”Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 CPU Comparison - Stable 60 FPS Finally Possible on Consoles“

Literally the most exciting feature about next gen consoles for me. Finally smooth and responsive gameplay across the board.

NewMonday1907d ago (Edited 1907d ago )

now if games have unstable farm-rate we will know it's totally the developers fault not the consoles. 60 fps should be a standard option at least.

the other good thing is that new TVs should support variable farm-rate so games can run unlocked.

SyntheticForm1907d ago

Agreed, with emphasis on "at least."

There's no excuse for any game that wants to forego frame rate for graphics to not at least have the 60 fps with visual downgrade option.

GTgamer1907d ago

Welllllllllllll that depends some devs will want to push graphics heavy so I do expect to see 30fps games but we shall see.

Tech51907d ago (Edited 1907d ago )

i disagree actually. you will still have 30fps for some games. and even the series X too. until frame rate becomes a actual prerequisite. given this fact, developers will always have to make choices with fixed hardware.
gamers will have to inquire for 60fps in their games or inquire to support options.

Starman691907d ago

When a game is done right, (such as spiderman ps4 as a great example) then 30fps is fine! 👌 It really is 😁

Jin_Sakai1907d ago (Edited 1907d ago )

@Starman69

“When a game is done right, (such as spiderman ps4 as a great example) then 30fps is fine! 👌 It really is 😁“

It really isn’t. 30fps is 33.3ms while 60fps is 16ms.

A 60fps image is much smoother with less ghosting and the controller input is twice as responsive. A game running at 60fps is much better than 30fps regardless if it’s Spider-Man or not.

Saijahn1907d ago

Exactly, 60fps should be the standard now.

SLiSH831906d ago

Give up @echo
This site is pro Sony
Any mention of Xbox/MS doing something is bad.....doesn’t matter what it is.
I’m holding out for a ps5 Pro myself
XSX is the one I’m getting first.

Or XSX at launch PS5 in August for my B day

jznrpg1906d ago (Edited 1906d ago )

@slish it’s pro Sony and pro Xbox at the same time . Because there is fans of both on here.

jznrpg1906d ago

That plus load times being close to nothing . Obviously graphics will be great but the load times and FPS , AI/physics and such is what I was looking forward to.

isarai1907d ago

I really REALLY want to see more destruction and physics next gen, gimme a BLACK 2 or Mercenaries 3 just to show it off

1907d ago
jerethdagryphon1907d ago

Did you not play control that game has tons of physic destruction also really fun game

Saijahn1907d ago

Yes, wreck any and everything. You speaking my language

NeoGamer2321906d ago

I really miss Mercenaries a lot!

porkChop1906d ago

I'd take a new Red Faction in the style of Guerilla. But ramp up the amount of destructible objects.

Stable 60fps has been possible since NES/Master System days. It depends on what type of game is being made and the graphics a developer is trying to push.

But it didn't stop me from playing Contra. It didn't stop me from playing Syphon Filter. Didn't stop me from playing Horizon Zero Dawn. 30fps will not stop me from playing any awesome future PS5 game if the developer decided on it. It's not that serious. We all know when a game's fps is unplayable. And 30fps IS playable.

"But but but..."

30fps is playable. 60fps and above is preferable like in a 2 player game. But if a single player game is good, I really don't care. I'm mostly playing single player anyway. I think it really only matters to people in competitive games. It only matters in VR to prevent nausea. I don't get nausea in a flat game at 30fps. If fps mattered that much, then give us all 120fps. But I'd bet there would be individuals complaining it wasn't as smooth as 240fps.

FlavorLav011907d ago

Some folks play single-player games on nightmare difficulty settings, if you’ve played either modern Doom game, Devil May Cry, God of War(performance mode), Dark Souls series, and many more - performance of 60fps or better is undeniably not only a visual delight for gamers but can be a life or death game changer in interactivity/responsiveness with the controlled character.. Makes some games feel completely different in a great way. Slower frames for films all the way, but my gaming habits desire more juicy frames with the incoming resolution bumps for all around better immersion

ApocalypseShadow1907d ago (Edited 1907d ago )

I understand what you're saying. And hit agree.

As I mentioned above that 60fps and above is preferable. But a good game is a good game. If someone shunned a game and won't play it because its 30fps, there's something wrong in my opinion.

I'm aware of chugging in games like when I used to play command and conquer/red alert with multiple A.I. And there would be so many units that it would chug. And I'd have to turn it off or reset. But there's no 30fps game I've played and said "nope." "I won't play it." Even if it's good.

That's ridiculous to me.

blackblades1907d ago

Yeah 30fps is playable so use to it I have no problems with it at all. Best thing they can do is give us options like this gen and choose of how we want to play them.

jerethdagryphon1907d ago

It's also worth remembering the human eye only needs 24 frames to see no choppiness.

WGAF1906d ago (Edited 1906d ago )

I dont think frame rate gonna help if gamers sucks at gaming lol.
