The Yakuza Remastered Collection is a triple serving of crime drama excellence (TheSixthAxis)

TSA writes: "When Yakuza Zero came to the West in 2017, it brought the badass, crime drama of the Yakuza series to a whole new audience. The combination of being the English language debut of the series on PS4, being a prequel story set before the very first game, and having the best visuals and combat the franchise had seen yet made Yakuza Zero a great stepping on point and an instantly entertaining hit."

With the 'Yakuza Remastered Collection', Xboxers and Playstation 4 gamers who have never played these wonderful games now get a chance to start from the beginning and go right through to the latest game on present generation hardware.

I would recommend newbies to start with 'Yakuza 0', a brand new prequel story and then move on to 'Yakuza Kiwami' and 'Yakuza Kiwami 2' which were full remakes of the original PS2 versions. Once you have gotten past those, enjoy this Yakuza Remastered Collection which contains remastered versions of Yakuza 3, 4 & 5 which were previously released on PS3. After that, head for 'Yakuza 6' which effectively ends the Kazuma Kiryu saga and then play 'Judgement' which is set in the same location of Kamurocho and would be easily mistaken for a Yakuza game were it not for the new main character introduced and a bunch of new features that elevate that game. Each game will take you in excess of 50 hours especially if you enjoy all of the in-games and stuff to do or even just roaming around town and getting into fights. Playing all 8 games available for the PS4 and Xbox One should get you to the end of the year. Oh and 'Yakuza 7' is on its way soon !

I can honestly tell you that as someone who played the Yakuza series from day one, the games are without equal with regard to the sheer amount of things to do, fun to have and stories to enjoy. The games have drama, humour, wackiness and pathos all wrapped in a nice gangster wrapping with gameplay that is infectious and fun. The series got better as it progressed and by no. 4, you will ask yourself how you ever missed this first time round (Of course, for Xboxers, the games were not available on your console until this year).
