Is it just me or does it just look like an increase in contrast?

jivah1885d ago

In the OFF shots, it looks like brightness is turned down a bit as well as contrast to make it look even more grandiose than it is. Bright colors seem saturated as hell too. And not realistic. Something id probably turn down a little. Like those shots of fruit where the colors bleed. Yea

Hungryalpaca1884d ago

Eternal doesn’t look realistic to begin with so why is that a criticism?

jivah1884d ago

Um. Nobody mentioned anything about the game looking realistic. I was talking about the colors being realistic. Google over saturated colors in pictures. They start to bleed. And thats annoying. So to me this is a shit way of showing off raytracing.

Look at the reflections in everything including the gun itself and even the enemies. All the light sources give off actual light which cast shadows etc. Not to mention the increase in contrast and depth.

Asking for confirmation from you guys: does this game run BETTER than Doom 2016 or is it just me? Cause I booted this bitch yesterday, and my couple-of-years-old rig runs it BEAUTIFULLY. Higher settings than Doom 2016 and not a single hiccup in the framerate. Like, this shit is WITCHCRAFT.

amazinglover1885d ago (Edited 1885d ago )

It runs better they where using older shading and other techniques from rage and they updated it to work on more modern hardware Digital Foundry has a great video on it.

I really like ID tech engine though unreal is the standard it really is starting to show its limit with trying to be the swiss army knife of game engines.

Edit to add a link to the video

I was averaging 80-120 fps with a gtx 1080 at 1440p. The first doom usually hovers around 120. But this was max settings.

Ray tracing is the most expensive gimmick right now and it not justifies the ridiculous performance drop when is turn on in games.

Hungryalpaca1884d ago

You haven’t seen it in action. Ray Tracing is used for lighting in film.

masterfox1884d ago (Edited 1884d ago )

Haven't seen it in action ? I actually seen dozens of videos of this so called ray tracing and heck I enable it in BF V in my PC to test it , and No this effect is absolutely not worth it, we need other technical ways for games to have dynamic reflections cause the one nvidia is implementing is so unoptimized.

Anomander1885d ago

interesting. Reshaed kept crashing the game when I first got it, Had to disable it for it to launch. Will need to double check on the latest version and see if that fixes the issue. Though May wait and see if Nividia puts out a RT option for it as well.

For me it's always been fighting games like SF, Tekken, GG etc.. it really gets my mental stack flowing and forced to take a thinking approach as opposed to playing brain dead.
