Great games with a convenient form factor that is valued by consumers of all ages.

StormSailor1657d ago

Just good marketing, nothing more

Apart from Fire Emblem nothing else on the Switch and its monotonous library has interested me so far

King_Noctis1657d ago

You know that isn’t really the case. Good marketing can only get you so far if you have no contents/softwares to back it up.

StormSailor1657d ago

Subtracting most of the Switch library are Nintendo games, how rich in content is that?

The only objective way to justify a person like me having the Nintendo Switch is to be a second platform, PC is already my second platform and I don't have time to play on my console, on the PC and still invest time on a portable console

So I still think that good advertising is what sold the most Switch

Elda1657d ago

Agreed. The very reason I haven't bought a Switch is because most of it's exclusive library just doesn't interest me.

thesoftware7301657d ago

That is good stuff, lol.

I been playing games for a long time and I must be a game fanatic, because all 3 systems, every gen has games I would like to play.

What kinda games do you like?

thesoftware7301657d ago

Wow I get it, to each their own.

I'm glad I'm less picky..because the the amount of stellar games you missed out on is astronomical.

Viewful joe.
Ratchet and Clank
Windwaker
Zone of enders
Okami
Dead Cells
Hollow Knight
Crash Bandicoot.
Donkey Kong
Killer 7
Tons of JRPGs..

Wow!

StormSailor1657d ago

This Elda knows what I'm talking about

RosweeSon1657d ago

I didn’t buy the console day1 because of its marketing 🤦🏻‍♂️

thesoftware7301657d ago

lol, great story.

What type of games do you like?

Elda1657d ago

I'm into the big budget AAA adult realistic looking exclusives, mostly the exclusives that land on the PS platform. The exclusive titles that are mostly on the Switch look cartoony & kiddie like, I have no interest in games that are Pokemon,Zelda,Animal Crossing, Splatoon,Mario Kart,Kirby,Rabbids..etc.

Ratchet751657d ago

Monotonous library???😂 😂

King_Noctis1656d ago (Edited 1656d ago )

“ Subtracting most of the Switch library are Nintendo games, how rich in content is that?“

There are currently 2170 games on the Switch. If we strictly talk exclusive, the Switch has 54 exclusive games during its 3 years on the market. The PS4 on the other hands have 75 games during its 6 (or 7-ish) years on the market. You can do the math.

“ So I still think that good advertising is what sold the most Switch”

Again, are you saying most people that bought the Switch have no interest whosoever in games like Mario Odyssey, BOTW, Smash, Animal Crossing, or Pokemon? They just woke up one day, saw the Switch’s commercial, and just thought to themselves “what an awesome commercial! I guess I’ll run out of the house and purchase one of those and put them it on the display cabinet!” ?

Worked for Sony and it’s working for Nintendo

TheHateTheyGive1657d ago

One reason and one reason only, because its portable, nintendo is unmatched in the handheld market, they're terrible in the home console market, but great in the portable. To be fair its the opposite for sony, bad aat handhelds but great t home consoles. Xbox is xbox

RosweeSon1657d ago

Nope. Because it has great games. Why else do people buy games consoles I don’t buy them because they were marketed well or as you say because it’s a handheld, it’s not but 🤷🏻‍♂️ It’s a home console I can take with me. My 3ds is a handheld a really good one at that. They’ve smashed it because they followed Sony and went all out for the games and luckily they make some of the best in the business. Nintendo might not have always won the console war who cares I never stick to one console a gen anyway and Nintendo always offer something the others don’t. I don’t need 3 identical consoles all offering the same yet all costing me monthly yearly subscriptions no thanks Xbox.

stupidusername1657d ago

Because it’s portable, a home console and it got great games representing almost all their big icons except Pikmin and Star Fox. The console also caters to all age groups both casual and hardcore – except the people who care about specs.

RosweeSon1657d ago

Yep and if you like great games and not bothered about the top resolutions then Nintendo always smash it ;) except wii u 🥴😂😜i always got time for Nintendo great games fun consoles not just the same as the other one as some like to do. There were 2 Games consoles that this generation put games first and foremost safe to say it’s those 2 consoles doing the best this gen, great news. Gamesssss

Wonder what happened to the leaked medieval game that they were working on ... hope that's still on going and gets released sometime after GTA VI

gold_drake3d ago

eh wat?

its been on "break" for 11 years now ha 5 came out literally 11 years ago

isarai3d ago

Seeing as how it's been like 12yrs between releases, i don't think taking even more time is a good decision for the series

TheNamelessOne3d ago

So GTA 7 in around 2045 or 2050 lol

Mr_cheese1d 13h ago

So make one GTA every human generation instead of every other console generation?

Come on...

Well I really hope they make some $$ AND make a HFR2 in the process.

Sciurus_vulgaris2d ago (Edited 1d 23h ago )

I’m wonder if Microsoft fully sold the Hi-Fi Rush IP. They kept the publishing rights of the original game. I don’t even understand why the IP was sold. MS could have had another of its menagerie of studios do another Hi-Fi game, despite such a thing being unlikely.

mandf1d 11h ago

It was given for free on gamepass. It didn’t sell well. Look at starfield it only sold 2.5 million because of gamepass

Sciurus_vulgaris1d 7h ago

Starfield did $235 million in revenue on Steam alone from Sept-December 2023. So I’m sure it sold considerably more than 2.5 million copies.

ZwVw1d 6h ago

Yes, it did sell well. GP version has a fraction of the reviews that the Deluxe Edition (more expensive purchase version of original) has. If anything, it shows that more people actually bought the Deluxe version than played the GP version, on Xbox at least.

LucasRuinedChildhood1d 22h ago

Hi-Fi Rush on the Switch 2 at launch would probably sell a good amount.

so i assume PSVR2 is not going to take its place. That's a shame as I do think it could benefit from the VR2 improved fidelity and controls.

OtterX2d ago

Well, they did just announce a native PS5 version the other day. Maybe there's hope, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Play No Man Sky for open world experience on PSVR2

Abnor_Mal2d ago

Never was a Minecraft fan, so no more support isn’t a big deal for me.

What I would like for Xbox and Bethesda to do is update Skyrim VR to be playable on the PSVR2. That’s the only game I want out of the Xbox catalog.

OtterX1d 16h ago

I wasn't a Minecraft fan until VR. It heightened the experience for me, but I prefer to use texture packs to improve the look a little bit.

I'm slightly bummed about the drop of PSVR support bc I was starting co-op w my daughter w this. Her on the PSVR Minecraft, and myself on the PC version w my Quest 2. :\
