RTX 2080 Super, is 11.1 Teraflops

Xbox Series X 12 Teraflops and also comes with a Console Attached to it

Impressive Stuff, They may even add windows at some stage

CaptainHenry9161913d ago

And it also means it will be expensive. Definitely over $500

DJStotty1913d ago

Not necessarily,

Depends on how much of a loss the manufacturers are willing to take to get the install base up. My guess with Microsoft is they will be willing to take a larger hit than Sony, as Sony will sell on name alone.

I predict the Xbox Series X may be the cheaper of the 2, whether that will translate into higher sales, that is another story.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH1913d ago

Who cares. I’m buying day one. If you want the best then you have to pay. I’m willing to pay for top notch specs. If you can’t afford next gen consoles then stay at current gen or do what Sony said and get a second job 😉

waverider1913d ago

And with Huge loss. A high end gpu that isnt the market.. . That arent discounts that can make it, beside everything else.

ThinkThink1913d ago

I can see MS taking a 20-30 dollar hit on the series x, but not over $100. I'm expecting $599.99 at launch. Keep in mind, MS doesn't need you to upgrade now, so as long as you have an xbox one, you're set for the next year post series x launch. The moment pre orders open, i'm getting both. Getting a 4k TV this year and cannot wait to hook these monsters up.

zackeroniii1913d ago

also no exclusives means this means absolutely nothing

343_Guilty_Spark1913d ago

They rather lose on hardware and have you subscribe to GamePass.

DJStotty1912d ago

Its a day one buy for me as well for the series X, just like i did with the xbox one X.

Powerhug1913d ago

Yes, you're right, an entire console will cost less than a 2080 Super but it will outperform it...

Unspoken1913d ago

12 TFlops computing what exactly? TF from nVidia =/= AMD TF so the measurements can't be compared directly.

specialguest1913d ago (Edited 1913d ago )

Unspoken is right. You can't compare AMD architecture to Nvidia. 12 TF on AMD doesn't mean it beats Nvidia 11.1 TF, because there's 0.8 more TF. There's been many examples in the past where more TF was beaten by less TF gpu when it came to AMD vs Nvidia in real world gaming comparisons. If it was AMD vs AMD, yes it would make a difference.

I don't expect console gamers to know any of this since gpu/cpu/and other PC components comparison isn't important to them. You get what you get in consoles. Where as in PC we're always reading about the latest and greatest PC tech and components keeping up date with what's best power wise, budget wise, and power to dollar value wise. It's cute when console only gamers try to talk hardware power when they know little

Melankolis1912d ago

@Unspoken, @specialguest
Judging the upvotes Powehug has gotten, i see many people do not know the truth and believe what they want to believe. TFlops in AMD & NVidia can't be compared directly, period.

It used to be "bit", "GHz", MB/GB, Core, and now they use "Teraflops" for marketing gimmick. Not entirely wrong, but not entirely right either.

Powerhug1912d ago

Where the fuck do you see me compare AMD to Nvidia? The only thing I would compare is the power of the 2080 Super to its price and then to the price a full system, i.e. a console, which includes many other parts besides a gpu.

Fluttershy771913d ago

It's a lot, it would have a great performance, so for the right price it could sell well...

I deal with Windows 10 on a daily basis at my job and I hate it, I don't want it anywhere close my gaming devices.

RazzerRedux1913d ago

You can’t compare teraflops between architectures. Vega 64 is 12 teraflops and performs worse than the 9 TF 5700 XT in games.

nirwanda1913d ago

Very true but the new Xbox will use the latest rdna2 with hardware ray tracing so right off the bat it (in theory)should be faster than any amd card currently available so it should be fairly close to what Nvidia is currently offering.

NonPartisanGamer1913d ago

Agreed, the 2080 super is a $700 card but nvidea owns that market. Manufacturing cost is likely a fraction of that.

lelo2play1913d ago (Edited 1913d ago )

Well, the Xbox Series X’s 12 TFLOPs GPU means that it's less then 13 TFLOPs and more then 11 TFLOPs.

BTW, there's going to be a Xbox Series Y’s with a 15 TFLOPs GPU and a Xbox Series Z’s with a 20 TFLOPs GPU.

Segata1912d ago (Edited 1912d ago )

You are comparing AMD flops to Nvidia. You can't do that. Nvidia is more efficient with them than AMD. Besides using flops as the end-all measurement is stupid. That's what fanboys do without context.

Profchaos1912d ago

Putting windows on opens up to much risk for things like piracy much like the original PS3 and it's inclusion of Linux it became a target for homebrew exploits and piracy ultimately.

tontontam01912d ago

"Who cares. I’m buying day one. If you want the best then you have to pay. I’m willing to pay for top notch specs. If you can’t afford next gen consoles then stay at current gen or do what Sony said and get a second job 😉"

12 Teraflops!? Combine that with dA pOwA Uv Da KlOwDz and you get yourself more confused. Until release it will be all about the Teraflop-talk just like with the X. I bought the X on release and am glad I did. So many games looked great but still many were locked to 30fps and were missing several lighting effects that you only see on PC. It all sounds good now and the fanboys will be at each other's throats but don't forget that MS won't have much to offer at release. With my PC specs being much better and having Game Pass for PC, I can't see myself buying this on release. I hope it comes out as a beast of a machine for console-only gamers but I also hope that Microsoft lets third-party devs utilize the full potential of the machine so they can better optimize their games better. (I'm looking at you PUBG)

CaptainHenry9161913d ago (Edited 1913d ago )

"were missing several lighting effects that you only see on PC"

Facts

jjb19811913d ago (Edited 1913d ago )

Exactly.
I know Fanboys get offended when I mention dA pOwA Uv Da KlOwDz but I mean when will it mean something? 4K @60fps, ultra-res textures but effects are set on low. Unless the game is cartoony-ish, lighting provides much more realism.

1913d ago
jjb19811913d ago

@Shaggy2303

Both. The console can't handle it. Same goes for PS4. You console fanboys are a funny bunch.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH1913d ago

You may have a beast of a PC that can our perform the Series X but ALOT of people don’t. And just how much did you pay for this PC of yours? This is a point that most PC gamers with high end PC’s don’t wanna talk about. I could easily afford a 3-4K PC but I don’t want one. The Series X will rival high end PC’s and will be much cheaper.

MarkyMark891913d ago (Edited 1913d ago )

I built my PC last year, but I was a fresh start. So desk, mouse and keyboard, 3 monitors couple of monitor arms along with the PC, and it cost me roughly $2,300. I will already outperform the next set of consoles and I haven't upgraded a thing, imagine when I slap a 30 series GPU in it if they drop this year.. But back to your point about cost, PS4= $400 a launch, 6 years PSN= $200 (Lets be nice and say you got some year's at a discounted price) 10 Games= $600 unless you waited months for discounts like you always have to on console.... Now lets not include the terrible controllers that constantly break if you play anything that is somewhat competitive. So all in all your spending roughly the same amount, just different time frames.

That is the difference between console a PC, the initial cost is so much more, but you spend pennies after that. I literally got 6 games for free the day I built my PC due to AMD and Nvidia handing out every current AAA title when I bought my parts. My current Steam libary has 40+ games, another 200+ titles for $5 with Xbox PC Game Pass, another 4 games on Ubi launcher, COD on Battlenet, EFT.. The list goes on, I have only paid roughly $150-$200 (mainly MW for $40 and $45 for EFT, Im sorry but you could never do that on a console, and that's the reason I sold my PS4 after 3 months of being on PC.

Sony and MS don't make their money off the console, its software sales and peripherals post launch, no need to spread misinformation just state you have no interest in PC. Lol gotta love the fanboys.. Less then 1% of the 1% spends 3-4 on a PC, I could build you a PC that will shit all over next get consoles right now for roughly $1200

RazzerRedux1913d ago (Edited 1913d ago )

"And just how much did you pay for this PC of yours? This is a point that most PC gamers with high end PC’s don’t wanna talk about."

lol....and console buyers don't want to talk about how much they spend to be online or the fact that if they want to stay at the top of console performance then they have to buy a new console every three years. If you bought Xbox One and then Xbox One X then you paid $1000 and then another $350 to $400 in online fees. I can build a pretty damn good PC for $1400. This idea that console gaming is so much cheaper is no longer the case now that they have adopted PC tech and have mid-gen upgrades.

"The Series X will rival high end PC’s and will be much cheaper."

lol....we won't know that until we see benchmarks, but I seriously doubt it. I think you are putting way too much faith into marketing.

jjb19811913d ago

At the end of 2015 I paid about $1600 for a build that uses an i7-6700k OC'd to 4.4 GHz that I still use today. I bought the higher end
AC+ SC+ Custom backplate EVGA 980TI
16GB of DDR4 RAM,
LGA1151 ASUS Z170-AR Mobo
450GB SSD
2 TB SSHD.
That 980Ti ran games at 4K better than the One X did in 2017. At my preference, I upgraded my GPU to a 2080Ti and an ultra wide 1440p monitor. I run everything at 120fps with G-sync. There is no comparison. The amount of money I have spent on PC games is much less than console games. PC games don't require a monthly fee to play multiplayer. My PC has a million other uses. I'm a gamer and I love to have consoles too. I bought the Xbox One Day One edition, Xbox One X Scorpio edition and have always had Gold. Let's just say that it cost me $1280 spread over the seven year period. The discrepancy is made up by the sheer performance of my PC over Xbox. The cost of the software has been way much more than anything I've purchased on PC over that time. There are so many ways to buy games for PC at a huge discount. Anything that you think looks as good on the Series X as it does on PC is because it was ported to PC. Just wait until Cyberpunk comes out and you'll see how much better it looks on PC. Actually, you won't. Based on your comment you're basically saying that a shiny new Corolla would beat a Ferrari. I'm not a PC elitist or anything like that. I'm just stating the obvious and you have a raging hard-on for Microsoft.

DJStotty1912d ago

@MarkyMark89

So what would you do if your power supply failed or malfunctioned and fried your GPU?, what if your 3 monitors went bust.

You can not compare what one console owner would spend against a PC player, as the variables will differentiate with each case.

I for one have not replaced a controller since the xbox one, i just use the same one for the xbox one X, and then use the same one for the series X. If it breaks, i will use the one i got with the xbox one X to play, when that fails, i will use the one i get with the Series X.

DJStotty1912d ago (Edited 1912d ago )

@jjb1981

So after 3/4 years you shelled out over £600, just on a graphics card alone. That will not even be the price of the Series X.

Yeah, Forza and Halo have been saying that for along time. We need something new.

GamerRN1913d ago

Your PC specs are nice better huh? So what do you have in your PC?

chiefJohn1171913d ago

Spoiler he doesn't have one. PC Fanboys kill me lol. Look at him and Razzer try to justify they highly price super PCs. I paid less than $1000 for the console, games and online service combined this gen meanwhile dude paid $2300 on hardware alone lol. You tell me who won?

RazzerRedux1913d ago (Edited 1913d ago )

@chiefJohn117

"dude paid $2300 on hardware alone lol. You tell me who won?"

lol...I did. I didn't pay $2300 (WTF with that amount?). And what if I did? If I bought a more expensive rig than you does it make it less fast or not better than yours? If I have the money....why the hell do you care? You didn't win with the games. That is for damn sure. Stop pretending you did.

Xbox fans like you want it both ways. They want to talk about how much power they have and they don't care if they had to spend more to get it.....until a PC gamer comes along. And THEN.....they want to talk finances. GTFO with your nonsense.

jjb19811913d ago

@chiefJohn117
Obviously you won with that 4K locked @30fps on low settings. So you spent $1000 and you will spend another $500 on the Series X and continue to pay for Gold. You probably play Fartnite so I guess you don't need Gold after all.

12 TFLOPS means "Da Powah" just like "Da Powah" of cloud /s

i3eyond the Circle1913d ago

12 teraflops of RDNA 2. It’s only a 15% difference but in theory it’s 13.8 in comparison to the mid range Navi of the Ps5. A subject we can’t speak on yet but will be the talk of the town come info release.

ThinkThink1913d ago

I believe it's closer to 50% difference, not 15%:
http://www.redgamingtech.co...

MarkyMark891913d ago

Yall must not know AMD's track record in the GPU department... sadly in the coming months and years, you will be highly disappointed.

rainslacker1913d ago

AMD's biggest issue is they arwnt very power efficient, and their chip design struggles to achieve its potential due to bottlenecks that exist within their bus architecture. Some of that is mitigated on consoles due to more integrated design, and customizations that can be made that arent suitable, or required on PC.

Drivers are a big problem for AMD chips, but that's not something the consoles have to worry about either.

sprinterboy1913d ago

Ps5 has
13.3TF
RDNA 2.0
3.4ghz, working twds final 3.7ghz
16gb GDDR6 4gb DDR4 ram

You'll find out tomorrow march 3rd ps5 spec announcement.

i3eyond the Circle1913d ago

I’d like to believe that. But the whole waiting for Xbox to reveal their price thing wouldn’t make sense.. and the board members wouldn’t be fighting over to make a profit or loss... because a profit on something of that magnitude would be a death sentence.

So nay sir

KillBill1913d ago

Let me guess... "and still priced at a reasonable $399" lol

I've seen three sets of leaked specs and multiple rumours indicating two models to be released base and pro esqe starting to feel like everyone and their mum has a mole in Sony's rand d team

As much as I want a reveal today, that 3rd of March rumor, is just that, and so far every other similar rumor with a date has been wrong, I'm not getting my Hope's up again lol, insiders have also been no real help, I've seen numbers from 8 tfs to 13.3 tfs, rdna1, rdna2, a mix of both, best to just wait and see rather than use rumors as facts, if it does get announced today then colour me surprised.

Change the record, don't you think there's a good chance they will have a lot of games after buying 15 studios. You may not of heard of them yet but any sensible company would announce them at the time that'll have the biggest impact, E3 perhaps or something in September closer to release..
