some people also realize the people at Larian love their games and want to show their vision for the game,, what they showed off was amazing imo. Yes there's bugs, but the game isnt out for a while so I can look past that. They made a great impression on me at least, ill be buying this day1

I went on a first date still wearing high viz trousers, steel toe cap boots, and a T shirt with a hole in after I got called out to an emergency power cable strike.
I booked a fancy restaurant and had the whole night plan out but had to go dig up a road and reinstate it with tarmac after, I was 25mins late to the restaurant and had to beg and explain to the manager i am meeting a girl for our first date and why i was in work clothes and stinking of sweat and tarmac to the manager, he laughed, let me in and didn't think I had much hope but wished me luck.

The first time Microsoft was showing off its USB compatibility, I want to say it was Bill Gates up on state and the second they plug in the scanner or whatever the hell it was... BAM.... BSOD.

I dont know what anyone expected.

I had minimal problems in the Win 98 era because I had built a new K6-2 system and it was stupidly stable (for its time) and I went with Creative for sound and nvidia(canopus) for video.

That being said these days the way the HAL works in modern PCs you are going to have to code a really broken POS to break it this badly. It partly has to do with the ununified code bases in modern development and sometimes in "agile" type development environments where different teams or team members are working to get specific features or portions done under a "sprint" timeline to get the code complete for the revision.... bugs are then checked as a whole for the revision instead of being ironed out as implemented. Thats part of why it takes half a dozen major updates to actually fix them all after a game comes out.

Ehh, no exceptions, if this were EA, Activision or any other company game demo they'd be ripped apart for displaying such a bad unfinished demo. If he feels comfortable showing us this product, what do you think he will feel comfortable selling us? He needs to be hounded, so that he is driven to address issues that we saw during the demo along with issues that we may not have seen to make sure the products quality is in good standing. People are normalizing poor performance across the board smh.

EA, Activision, UBI, and particularly Bethesda game studios sell shit like this as if it were a finished product and even after multiple updates their games usually aren't worth the paper their covers are printed on. Their track records earn the scorn. Larian Studios, on the other hand, has quite the opposite track record. If you can't see the difference, you're just ignorant.

it was a bit of a wonky demo, whats going to make me buy it is the fact i love the studio's work with original sin 2 and i know its still early in development. tbh i don't think the demo went THAT bad.

No it doesn’t. That’s how it should be done. You could tell he was nervous but he had fun and it was genuine. The game looked great, the crowd enjoyed it, we all did. Yeah sure there were a lot of bugs and some bad luck rolls but it was fun to watch and will be fun to play. Players want to see this stuff no matter how broken. Be transparent with progress and you can change minds. Much more effective than hype marketing imo. I have never played baldurs gate before but I’m very interested now. The turn based combat sealed the deal for me. I want to buy it on pc but they said modern consoles couldn’t run it so I don’t know if my pc will either. Might wait for ps5 version.

i watched this gameplay demo with my brother and he kept asking “does he know how to play his own game?” some of it can be chalked up to bad luck, like that first miss with a 90% hit had me cracking up

I think it was the perfect way to do a gameplay reveal. It was real. Imagine if no man's sky (vanilla) or Anthem had showed themselves off in a similar way. I personally think it was brave and smart as it showed 2 things a number of developers lack today, which is honesty & transparency
