Notice how he only says "Current Gen" systems, yet leaves out Next Gen ones... hmm

Muzikguy1942d ago (Edited 1942d ago )

If it's not on PS5 I won't be playing it. I'd love to check it out though as I'm a fan of the other games.

CorndogBurglar1942d ago (Edited 1942d ago )

It'll come out on PS5.
1. They would be completely stupid not to put it on consoles.
2. Both Divinity Original Sin games came out of consoles.

It makes nothing but sense for this to be on consoles.l as well as PC. It might get a delayed console release, like the Divinity games did. But it will definitely be on consoles.

FullDiveDerail1942d ago

it will come out on PS4 and PS5 ...he just doenst know about Sonys and Microsofts Best Played on Campaign yet

steven_seagull1942d ago

Totally didnt notice that, because I was like ".....dont think current-gen consoles would be bla bla bla" whaaaaat and then I was like oh yeah then yeah what about next gen ones hmm so like totally with you there man hmmm

Lighter91942d ago

Yep. That's why I've been holding off commenting about it.

CorndogBurglar1942d ago

The gameplay does have really nice graphics, but it doesn't look like anything a PS4 couldn't run.

But regardless, Larian released both Divinity Original Sin games on consoles. I have a hard time believing this wouldn't come to consoles. Whether it's this gen or next gen. And really, what does it matter? The game won't launch until after the next gen systems are out anyway.

CaptainHenry9161942d ago (Edited 1942d ago )

He probably meant to say next gen since that's what he was asked

porkChop1942d ago

Huh? He didn't "leave out" next gen consoles, quite the opposite. He was specifically asked if the game does come to console, if it would be next gen only. His full response:

"Mmhmm! I don't think that current-gen consoles would be able to run it. There's a lot of technical upgrades and updates that we did to our engine, and I don't know if it would be capable of being able to actually run on those things.

Maybe it could run, but then we would have to tone down the textures and this and that and it wouldn't look as cool anymore."

dumahim1941d ago

He left out previous gen systems as well. Double hmm!

You could almost think that making crossgen games instead of nextgen exclusives would hold the games back!

Atom6661942d ago (Edited 1942d ago )

"Maybe it could run, but then we would have to tone down the textures and this and that and it wouldn't look as cool anymore."

Doesn't sound like it's due to its game design or anything that the current systems couldn't run. It sounds like it would just be graphical downgrades.

Engine issues may be the bigger issue like he mentions, but if DOS2 can run on Switch...

Kumakai1942d ago (Edited 1942d ago )

That’s a misnomer. Game engines are pretty scalable. We do it all the time at work to scale real-time projects. It’s a matter of swapping level of detail target assets, cpu load tiers (fidelity of cpu based operations) and target resolutions, antialiasing setting a and other effects post process. You can even run scripts to select this stuff automatically based on a hardware Id or config.

If only new systems were coming out soon...

"Players can now hide system apps, pin favorites to the list, and reduce the number of tiles displayed. This update is part of our ongoing effort to make Home more personal, flexible, and responsive to feedback."

This is welcomed, i like a less cluttered home screen.

Japan: Nintendo Switch 2 already outsold lifetime sales of Xbox Series X|S and PS5 Digital Edition

Wow… Nintendo is champ in Japan, but the speed of sale is remarkable.

Proves that console gaming isn’t dead yet not by a long shot.

gold_drake2d ago

not surprised, the switch is relatively cheap in japan.

I guess the resistance against always online and digital only consoles is BS. The people have voted with their wallets.

NotoriousWhiz2d ago

What are you talking about? Switch 2 is neither always online nor digital only.

DivineHand1252d ago

Nintendo can literally block your Switch 2 console from accessing their online services at any time. When that happens, it becomes a brick. You won't even be able to play those games that use game key cards that are not installed on the console. Some users who have been blocked tried factory resetting their system, and when they tried to boot it up with a new account, they are stuck.

Speaking of game key cards, the majority of third party publishers have opted to use those instead of loading their full game on those cartridges. Imagine having a library of game key card games and going on a long trip but not being able to play a particular game because you need to connect to Nintendo servers to download the game first. It is not like the old days where you just plug in and play.

Game key cards make sense for large games like GTA, Red Dead, or COD, but I don't see why publishers who have games with sizes less than 32 GB need to use that option.

If you try to mod your system it could get banned from online play like every single system since the ps3 and xbox
