THQ Nordic officially announces Gothic Remake for next-generation platforms

Here's to hoping they really are taking public reception and the constructive criticism had to heart. The demo was fine, but it really wasn't Gothic.
I am perfectly fine with reimagining a title, but you need to keep the soul of that series as well and, well, it's currently not there.

True...the combat actually looked pretty good vs Gothic, which had horrendous combat...but I see what you mean...Gothic seemed more about exploring and the world?

Yeah. That's always been PB's strength - a great world to explore, and player agency over how to handle missions.
The demo seemed like it was streamlining those aspects a lot, and those elements really are what make Gothic, well, Gothic.

Games I thought would never be seen ever again, like Destroy all Humans/Spongebob, and more unannounced....great stuff.

I seen the boxes of Gothic in the stores a lot, they were always appaeling to me but I never had the chance to play them. This time I will for sure :)

As a long time fan of the franchise/ Piranha Bytes games in general, I still highly recommend buying Gothic 2 off of GoG, or another store.
I played the demo for this remake, and they're taking the game in an entirely different direction. It wasn't bad, but it looks like they're streamlining a lot of the stuff that made Gothic a cult classic in the first place. Unless they take player feedback from the demo to heart, which they say they are.
