Incredible. It's just sad that Sony isn't really promoting this masterpiece.

RpgSama1930d ago

They did support the developer for 7+ years while making this game, they know that this type of game is going to need word of mouth more than straight up promotion.

Rimeskeem1930d ago

Something tells me they will be promoting it with the new generation.

XxSPIDEYxX1930d ago

I really hope so. This is something special.

frostypants1929d ago

That's what I'm thinking...I'll bet they'll expand the tools and capabilities of Dreams over time, including stuff that takes advantage of the PS5.

LoveSpuds1930d ago (Edited 1930d ago )

To be honest, I am not quite sure how you market this game, in respect of traditional adverts at least.

I think the devs turning up at all the media outlets and appearing with influencers like they are, is probably the best way to promote the game. I have seen the devs on Kinda Funny, Gamespot and Easy Allies this week alone.

Game looks interesting, if I can get my backlog under control I'll be excited to try it.

XxSPIDEYxX1930d ago

I don't even refer to it as a game anymore. I just call it an experience because of the incredible variety of creations. So you're right, it's not something that's easily understood without experiencing it yourself. However does it really hurt to put an ad on a bus, or a billboard, or even tweet about it more?

WickedLester1930d ago (Edited 1930d ago )

They need to go on Fallon and Conan O'Brien and promote it. That would be some great exposure.

rainslacker1930d ago

I think the content will allow for social media marketing. that will come more after the content is created, so it's hard to market this as a game for now. It's one of those things that has to sell with someone knowing what they're getting, because if you picked this up thinking it's a traditional game, then they may be disappointed.

Not everyone is into community content curation.

bluefox7551930d ago

They probably should be promoting it more, but this is the sort of game that promotes itself. Anytime someone creates something cool or innovative, people will hear about it.

Teflon021930d ago

yeah, I think it's a harder to promote game than LBP was originally. Because the base was a 2d sidescroller. It wasn't so hard. But a game where it creates itself can't really be promoted normally. Kinda have to just showcase stages etc every so often and people will hear about it over time. The same idea as how LBP kept selling well over time since. WoM worked well. This I think will really see success at the years end, into next when PS5 is dropping. Likely locking the game to 4K and or 60fps. On top of all the great creations coming in time. Games already pulling great results rating wise and it only gets better

remixx1161929d ago

Hell Sony supported and funded the game after MM rebooted it twice, they deserve some credit for seeing it's potential.

XxSPIDEYxX1929d ago

I don't think anyone is discrediting Sony for supporting one of their studios. After all this funding, hard work and time, why wouldn't you want to promote this game to the world as much as possible?

Getting a ton of good reviews. If this is truly that good of a dev tool, maybe I should remake the original Tomb Raider games in it as SE won't do it. I don't think I can tackle such a huge task, but maybe I'll try if it's even possible.

MadLad1930d ago

Trying my hand with the tools tomorrow night into Sunday, being I'll be off.
Got to play a couple hours of created content last night before grabbing some sleep.

AnubisG1929d ago

What will you be making?

LiViNgLeGaCY1929d ago

You can collaborate with other people online too. I'm sure you're not the only one who wants to do this.

AnubisG1929d ago

Yeah, probably I'm not the only one. Let's see if there will be others who wants to do something like this.

Having Tomb Raider 1-3 remade is a dream for me.

MadLad1928d ago

Ended up not having time this weekend :/
Ideally, I want to just start a couple, smaller random projects. Learn how to handle satisfying shooting mechanics and movement. Then learn modeling and texturing.
By the summer I'm hoping to make a competent recreation of the opening to Bioshock. From the crash, to gaining your first plasmid. If I'm happy with it, I'd like to continue, but make my own content from there.

AnubisG1928d ago

That would be cool. Hope you'll get to do it. Don't give up!

S2Killinit1930d ago (Edited 1930d ago )

People are loving this game. I think I just might bite.

LiViNgLeGaCY1930d ago

Awesome score. I'm really enjoying it so far!

SolidGamerX1929d ago

Sitting at 91 on meta with 19 positive reviews and zero mixed or negative. All the talk about certain companies leaving others behind and yet here is another amazing exclusive for Playstation. Congrats to MM on this masterpiece and thank you Sony for continuing to give your fan base the best and most amazing games to play. If this is the kinds of games we get at the end of PS4's run I can only imagine what we are going to get for PS5.

Dreams had potential but it really needed to get off of the PS4. It released so late in the gen when everyone was already wanting to move on to next gen systems. It should have come to PC, and a native PS5 version should have definitely released.

Knushwood Butt113d ago

I bought it Day 1 but the 'campaign' was pretentious and just didn't work for me. I had no intention of making content so was left to fumble through the user created content. Some good stuff, with the pig detective being the most memorable. However, just moved on to other stuff, and despite owning VR, never once played in VR either.

Knushwood Butt113d ago

Media Molecule always seem to be too ahead of the curve to have a big hit. Hopefully whatever they are working on now finds a big audience.

YoungKingDoran112d ago

For whatever reason/s they somehow dropped the ball hard with Dreams, our loss

Lionsguard112d ago

Dreams was fantastic, especially when VR was added. The things people managed to build was incredible. Some of the best VR experiences are still from Dreams experiences. The huge crux for it was being on consoles however and it was missing one thing that they didn't have back then and that we have now..... A.I.. With the advent of AI today, if they could have had Dreams running on PC and somehow got AI to work where we just typed in a prompt and it did things, it would have been a massive game changer, it could have just made the AI "Dream" and create its own things. It could have solved their problem of somehow getting one dream to just change into another one seamlessly. I really think Dreams deserves a second chance.

Rancegamerx112d ago

It was an awesome idea but even with tools that were supposed to make it easier to make a game, it was still so hard and convoluted. It tried to do to much at once. It would have been better to separate everything into easier parts, build the world, then the character's, then the music, etc. Not everything all at once. Some people understood it but most were overwelmed or confused.

I have to emphasize that this is an extremly well made remake, it's the full game with all the content and features plus more. Visuals and sound is very close to the original, this version was recently published. I know there's a lot of predjudice against Dreams, which is a shame and not really deserved, the tool is much more capable than many think.

fr0sty223d ago

Just a reminder that Dreams is free on PS+ Premium... if you have it, go download it, and thank us later. It's a truly fantastic game.

If there was one PC version that should have existed it’s Dreams

I’m super glad they will be going back to something more traditional gaming wise.

Cacabunga387d ago

I’m sure they’ll find something creative to implement like Tearaway on vita. What a gem 💎 that thing was!!!

Abear21387d ago

My dream was DreamsVR and creating landscapes, characters, and sculptures using that amazing toolbox in vr, that would have been something imo.

ocelot07387d ago

I thought It has vr support?

Amplitude387d ago

It did but it came out as an update LONG after the game was essentially dead

P_Bomb387d ago

Dreams PC was the dream. Woulda given the game a much needed boost. Here’s hoping they follow it up well.

phoenixwing387d ago

If sony had any sense they'd be making a pc version pronto

mkis007387d ago

They probably ran into the same problem they did with the potential of last of us factions....the support needed was just too much to consider expanding to more platforms for a smallish studio.

Abnor_Mal387d ago (Edited 387d ago )

I use to say this when the game was first releasing, many kept saying it would not be possible, something about the toolsets.

I said this was one game that needed to be on as many platforms as possible, including PC and Xbox just like how Minecraft is everywhere.

Goodguy01387d ago

Creation tools just don't work on console very well. It's definitely more suited for PC, and it's very odd Sony decided not to port it over. Good MM is working on an actual game instead.
