Hokko Life and Temtem are copies of Animal Crossing and Pokemon, but is that such a bad thing? These Nintendo clones offer something we can't get elsewhere.
Nope. It's good to have variety. Clones or not.
Can only be a good thing as it keeps Nintendo hot on their heels and gives an independent company a chance to get bigger with a great game
Given that these indie devs are pushing the envelope in ways that we can't expect Nintendo or Game Freak to, no I don't think that's a bad thing. Nintendo has some great franchises under their umbrella, but I don't believe that one company should hold a monopoly on a type of game.
since when were "clones" ever a bad thing? don't like something the "original" is doing find a clone that fixes it.
No it’s not but from what I’ve seen both are mediocre and not really worth anyone’s time.
It's good when they bring something new to the table and feel more than just clones. Temtem's stamina system seems to me much more interesting than the PP system in Pokemon, for example. I still don't know what Hokko Life will do differently, but I hope it's more than just giving us a little more freedom in creating patterns and such. However, the biggest problem of copies is that they usually also take the worst aspects of the games they's copying. For example, Temtem filling the maps with random trainers. Or Stardew Valley making time advance indoors, or having friendship decay. Game clones should not only bring new ideas, but also fix or get rid of things that don't work.
Everything is a remix.
