Why the need to port, this will work on series X already, just will not have the Series X bells and whistles.

As stated by Ubisoft "What I can tell you is that we are not making a specific version for those consoles"

So the base version will be readily available

(Can not speak for PS5 as i am unsure on their stance on back compat/forward compat etc)

thank god too. No goddamn PS4/XB1 remasters. Patch in next gen bells and whistles with an update at most. If a 1X/Pro version already exists, then that's the base version next gen. I hope MS continues to enhance 360 software and Sony follows suit with PS3 software. Probably just me but I'd still rather play RDR in 4K than RDR2

If the expectation is that PS4 / X1 games are compatible with the next gen, then there is no need for a next gen port. I can’t imagine Ubisoft wants to invest resources in areas which are unnecessary.

The need to port is exactly for the bells and whistles. Instead of the high resolution medium-high settings, the next gen consoles should allow a match for the max preset at an even higher resolution because even the Xbox One X version isn’t native 4K. I don’t know why people wouldn’t want that. I’d be all for it

DJStotty228d ago (Edited 228d ago )

Would that not be a series X/PS5 update, as opposed to a complete port?

Rude-ro228d ago

Well... being that since day one this gen, the pc versions of Ubisoft games have been Coded in the console versions... it is all the same and down to just the hardware and being able to crank up the effects/settings... just like on a pc.
So no port needed.

Darkwatchman228d ago (Edited 228d ago )

Updating for PS5 or Series X, would essentially be the same thing as a port as they’re making specific changes to the code to run on said new hardware for a patch that upgrades settings.

DJStotty228d ago (Edited 228d ago )

They would just need to patch the game like they did with the xbox one X, it is different to a complete port from different hardware.

By your logic the xbox one x enhanced games have all been ported from the xbox one? Even though you can use the same disc on both consoles?

Ps5 will have bc for ps4 also at least so not sure why your saying just series X? Cmon it's obvious due to the same artichecture.

Probably because i also said "(Can not speak for PS5 as i am unsure on their stance on back compat/forward compat etc)"

Both consoles are backwards compatible so this is a non issue

Spenok228d ago

Given the backwards compatible nature of both next gen systems... this makes sense. Why work so hard on a port when they can just... let people play it?

I can maybe see something like the Pro/X patches to give it some extra oomph, but that's it.
