Cultured Vultures: Want to get lost in some amazing stories? Here's what we think are the best story games on PS4, including God of War and more.
Uncharted 4 is currently my GOTG
Mine is HZD.
Not a bad choice
Mine is also HZD. I really loved UC4 though. It was a great finale to a decade with some amazing characters.
Mine is God of War
Yeah, mine too... but i can't fault any of the other choices as well as they are incredible games
I agree, next is GOW.
Wish I could erase that experience from my mind and play that game all over again.
Same here brother
I'm currently playing U4 through for the second time, this time on Crushing (and it is brutally difficult in places). My first playthrough was back at launch in 2016. So I am coming at it with a fresh perspective as I really can't remember the details. For story, yes, it's good, but I'm not sure how I feel about it cheating the player, and I can't go into that without major spoilers. As such, props to Edith Finch, my choice would probably be Days Gone. Also, nice article, with all the entries on one page!
GOW for me
Yep. So many to choose from, but that one tops the list for me.
Days gone, awesome
no arguement - i'd have to say a tie between GoW and DG for me - really into both stories.
Of the big PS4 games, this is #2 after HZD and even before GOW (which is a masterpiece) but something about Days Gone really spoke to me. When I got my year review and saw I put 95 hours from start to platinum trophy (never touched the challenges, DLC, and never replayed it), I realized Bend truly created a wonderful world to survive in.
Mine is somewhere between Nier Automata and U4. U4 was just such a perfect sendoff that addressed and fixed the few shortcomings i had with U3s story.
GOW is a must.
God of war anyday for me
God of War, Bloodborne, Uncharted 4 and HZD were excellent. Glad to see Edith Finch on here (even though it's multiplat) as I find it criminally underrated. It's brilliant and it's profoundly sad, and I think everyone should play it. My favorite indie of the gen.
Edith Finch Yeah, that section in the fish factory... Both uplifting (love the music and the fantasy) but also incredibly depressing at the same time. Very powerful. Amazing work by the team that made it.
I actually enjoyed Edith Finch (played it start to finish) and I don't usually play those kinds of game.
- Detroit become human - God of War - Red Dead Redemption 2
The Last Guardian needs some love.
oh my damn how can i forget! Never forget how emotional i got when Trico first overcomes the glass eye wards to save the boy, or when he takes his first flight.
Yeah. It's hard to remember all the good games there were this gen. Just too many of them
List could be much better.
Theres some great choices on that list. I would remove Metal Gear 5 though, And I say that as a huge fan of the series. I even have a games room themed entirely to Metal Gear. That game is the worst of the series. Glad to see Edith Finch get some recognition. Definitely needs Nier Automata in there though
The Yakuzas and Judgment. Underrated AF! How they didn’t make this top 20 for story and characters just cements it. No question. No debate. End of.
Below average post
Definitely the list is below my average post
Well They should have added Last of Us. :(
I always consider it to be a PS3 game though
Please tell me the story of Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3.
Attack, dodge, light bon fire, repeat....
Infamous Second Son for me.
I like about half your list. I am a huge story based gamer and there is a bunch on there that do not have any gripping narrative of any kind. Almost half in fact. Dark Souls 3 and #2!? Not sure this guy knows what storytelling is. Still he has some great stuff on this list. Almost all the decent ones are PS4 exclusives. I don't know why I bother to comment on things.
I would recommend Uncharted 4 to a lot of people because it is a great game and fun to stream.
