Reggie reveals that when he applied for his Nintendo role in 2003 he didn't own a GameCube, but a PS2 and original Xbox instead.
Gamecube had some great titles, but it definitely was my secondary console to the PS2 and Xbox. Xbox was great for the truly demanding games of the time like Morrowind, and PS2 had the diversified and large catalogue. Gamecube was just sort of there for when they released 1st and 2nd party titles.
Metroid Prime was and STILL is THE reason to own a GameCube... And Windwaker.
Don’t forget melee
Nope. Resident Evil Remake and Resident Evil Zero was the ONLY reeason to own a Game Cube.
REmake, RE0 and RE4 were the reasons I owned the GC personally. Windwaker was the only Zelda I ever beat. It was also the last Nintendo console I rated.
Eternal Darkness, and Luigi's Mansion
Rogue Squadron 2 & 3 were my reason to own a cube.
@Absonite the is moreso Super Smash Bros. Melee than Metroid Prime!
Some Gamecube games are really pricey these days (some of the Mario Parties, Mario Sunshine, Smash, Metroid, the Zeldas). It has that collect-ability thing going for it right now.
Eternal darkness was one of the better ones for gc
RE0, Windwaker, Prime were my fondest memories from the Cube.
So what you're telling me is that Reggie joined Nintendo so he could get a free Gamecube to complete his console collection? Clever.
Reggie! Your body was not ready. Bad Reggie.
Okay? That warrants an article?
A bit of fun trivia is all
Considering the slop that gets pasted all over these days, this is more relevant and less click bait than usual.
That's because he knew the real deal.
Im pretty sure I've seen an article like this like 5+ years ago..... Or this was on one of those gaming fun fact videos on youtube.
Makes sense. Compared to ps2 the gamecube had very little to offer in comparison. Like most nintendo consoles it was a secondary console.
Aside from, you know, NES, SNES, N64, Wii and Switch, and every handheld they ever released. Oh look. It turns out only the Gamecube and Wii U (and virtual boy) were the hardware they put that weren't either highly competitive, or dominated the market at the time.
Oh look...we have 2020 and it is just true. Nintendo consoles are the secondary ones since 1996 already.
@Terry Oh look ... it's 2020 and Terry_B is making bad takes he doesn't care to back and substantiate. Did the N64 not end up highly competitive to the ps1? Did the Wii not blow up sales numbers for that generation? Has not the Switch been the fastest selling console in general? Did not every release from Gameboy to the 3DS do phenomenally?
Yes kids love Nintendo and most older people use it as a secondary console. MOST not all.
that means nothing. A person can apply at Apple and have a droid or windows pc. Interesting tidbit though.
I always loved Reggie's unhuman sized hand showing off all their handhelds, really fucking up the perspective of size. If you havent seen them, go see for yourself. His hands made the original DS look like a flip phone.
Dam, i remember back then when xbox was the newest thing, a mysterious new awesome looking console too come out with an awesome looking controller. It definitely attracted me towards it with it's amazing looking graphics (at the time) and a bunch of new ip's. Fast forward to now, xbox is the most hated console with weak ip's and failed ideas that ruined itself by first trying to shove kinect and DRM down our throats, and now trying too pull off a new gen with no exclusives and no really good reason to buy one. Xbox one is a complete failure.
I just traded in all my Xbox One, 360 and OG Xbox games along with my X1X at my local GamesXchange to get a Gamecube and 53 games. Gamecube is the way to go my friends.
Wow and you have them all and no job or goals except for creating worship articles like this. Cringy. Wait what’s that?... It’s Nintendo, they are Amazed by your gamerdom and want you to take Reggie’s old job. They did not hire him for his gaming skills jackazz.
Star wars rogue squadron
And Nintendo hired Reggie anyway, wise on Nintendo given the successes that followed after hiring him.
To think the man without a Gamecube would become a living legend in the gaming industry and got his start PROMOTING the very console he didn't have, man what a world we live in.
His body was not yet ready.
