Not really, you can play the first two as prequels in a sense. It is certainly not a bad way to go if you wanna play them in order. Despite not NEEDING to, it can be more enjoyable due to certain choices carrying over from game to game.
I do and it is why I haven’t play Witcher 3 yet. I’ve watched Cohh play 1&2 but I still want my own choices to carry over so it remains as the greatest game on my backlog.
