New footage from the PlayStation 5 RPG Godfall emerged online, showing some short but intense combat sequences. The footage is taken from an older trailer
Looks very Interesting. I will keep an eye on this one.
Thundercat...you just brought me back to my childhood, thank you.
I am honored. This is the way.
I have a feeling that after Sony announces their launch line up we won't be talking too much about Godfall. Saw a longer trailer on Twitter this morning and I was underwhelmed. Hope it turns out good, but I'm not convinced this looks any better than something like Warframe right now. Plus the combat look slower. Next gen is going to look great in general, it's all about how it will plays IMO.
@RememberThw357, Yeah. Right now it looks like the typical 7/10 launch game. Granted we've only seen small snippets, but from what we've seen there's just nothing exciting there outside of the graphics. That's not to say it looks bad, just not terribly exciting. Hopefully when it gets it's full reveal they show off some more exciting stuff that isn't shown in the leaked trailer. EDIT: that's after the full leaked internal trailer, not just these six seconds.
People are easily impressed... if it's exclusive.
And other people are unimpressed...because it is.
Don't say that dude, Ninty and x fans won't like you.
Im buying a ps5 for its exclusives and this one its going to pc so its a no from me.
You know Obscure_observer posted this article to hate on it right? Coming from a PC gamer
Looking forward to seeing more of this, it's got my attention.
I'm also looking forward to seeing more of Godfall, but from what I've seen, God of War still has it beat in terms of particle effects.
What lol you are delusional.
Nothing about this says welcome to next generation. God of War (and no doubt TLOU2 will when it lands) set the bar so high with what the PS4 is capable of that early next gen games will be on par with slightly better details. There were some games at the start of this generation that looked worse than the Original TLOU on PS3. Sometimes it takes a while for third party studios to push the boat out where as Sony's first party studios always seem to push things further than what was even thought possible on the hardware it's using. Cannot wait to see some more games from the PS5 so we can get a better understanding of what we'll be getting.
@ synthetic Cant really say till we see more to be fair, I just like the look of it, if it's really not up to much then it's no great loss.
As expected this game is more of a graphical showcase rather than something of substance. Look like a generic CO-OP slasher.
other than the lighting effects i wouldn’t call that a graphical showcase. Maybe when they have some better and longer footage, but it doesn’t look much better than a lot of current gen games.
I can’t help but to think if this was on the Series X, your comment will be totally different.
I'm not surprised hearing this from you LMAO
Its over a year old. Alot of shit wasn't even put in yet
I didn't realize we were supposed to see outstanding graphical differences between generations on launch titles. If you're comparing the visual fidelity of this gameplay footage to Hellblade II, keep in mind that one is gameplay and the other is "in-engine" footage from a studio known for tremendous emphasis on visuals and narrative elements. I really wonder why I even take the time to explain this to Kribwalker of all users. That said, I doubt I'll really care about Godfall. Doesn't really seem like my cup of tea. Even so, there's still plenty of time to polish and improve several aspects of the game, from visuals to gameplay mechanics.
@mrmikew2018 Doesn't change the fact that it's true. That said, the footage quality is pretty bad so we can't judge, and we can't really tell the scale of the game from these shots so we don't know how impressive it really is.
@DarXyde Yep. Hellblade 2 is a target render that goes to 24 fps and a resolution of 3840 × 1608 and that does not show gameplay of the game.
It looks better than any xboxx launch titles currently lol.
Don't worry once MS finally has something real to show, we will make sure to point out it's flaws. I'm sure there will be many.
And you get to a conclusion like that when we practically know nothing about this game. Your comment should be mark as spam since it has no substance.
Based on 6 seconds, you can tell a lot about the gameplay.
Thats what happens when all you give is 6 seconds. If information is not provided people will speculate. It's only natural.
Don't some people think that a game is going to be great just because of a CGI trailer? 6 seconds is an eternity if people can draw such conclusions with the lack of anything to know otherwise.
TK-66, Speculation is a far cry from thoughtful analysis. Regrettably, people will make poor speculations. Be that as it may, I do take satisfaction in those people looking foolish in the long run.
"If information is not provided people will speculate. It's only natural." Yeah. That's the logical thing to do. Make stuff up if someone doesn't give you everything you want when you want it. Let alone that this stuff is 'leaked' and not officially put out.
@rainslacker Be more specific. Don't beat around the bush. Say what you want to say. Which CGI trailer are you referencing? If it's Hellblade 2 you're referencing there might be a slight hint in that theres a '2' in the title. Or do you think that excitement has nothing to do with the predecessor on the newly announced title? @DarXyde Then speak to the developers and tell them that when they announce a game they should release gameplay. Otherwise this is exactly what you get. You don't get to complain when you create an environment that encourages speculation. Thoughtful analysis isn't possible so no comment can be made on this, and yet the comment section remains open. @Christopher Logic is out the window when this site thrives off encouraging comments that lack it to engage. We're talking about a game where all we have to go off is small glimpses of footage and we're now going to complain when people say what they think it looks like? Interesting how people only try to regulate this sort of speculation when it goes against the popular view.
"we're now going to complain when people say what they think it looks like? Interesting how people only try to regulate this sort of speculation when it goes against the popular view." We're always going to complain when people do it. Heck, I got downvoted to heck and complained to when I made opinions about a game that showed off 5+ minutes of gameplay even though I also mentioned that my response was based solely on what was shown and not the entire game. You somehow think people are just going to accept you making a glaring and broad decision on the overall gameplay based on 6s of video?
@Christopher "We're always going to complain when people do it. Heck, I got downvoted to heck and complained to when I made opinions about a game that showed off 5+ minutes of gameplay" Anyone who cares about upvotes and downvotes shouldn't expressing an opinion. I'm not concerned about lurkers who cant go beyond a single click to express why they agree or disagree with something. Everyone who's interested in this game in some way has speculated about the product. If they hadn't this wouldnt be getting any attention. All I initially said was that no one has any justification to complain about how people currently view the game (in terms of whether they think it looks good or generic). When someone says "maybe you should wait" it's only ever directed at negative views. Not positive. People are being hypocrites and doing damage control. If they were being logical they'd engage equally in the thread. "You somehow think people are just going to accept you making a glaring and broad decision on the overall gameplay based on 6s of video?" No. I never said anything about acceptance. All I said is that if you have issue with this then take issue with the devs in their unwillingness to show a full gameplay demo. This is exactly how the game should be viewed when you limit the available information on it to this degree.
Tk-66 Your logic is laughable at best. I love it when haters embarrass themselves.
@TK I don't have to beat around the bush, and while there is a specific instance related to this game recently that my comment can be applied to, it's by far, not the first time that similar reactions have occurred.
"Logic is out the window when a few people thrive off making sweeping conclusions from a 6 second video" Fixed. And what should folks be going after the devs for again? A leaked video that they didn't want us to see in the first place? Logic has certainly gone out the window in this thread. That much I agree with.
TK-66, "Then speak to the developers and tell them that when they announce a game they should release gameplay. Otherwise this is exactly what you get. You don't get to complain when you create an environment that encourages speculation. Thoughtful analysis isn't possible so no comment can be made on this, and yet the comment section remains open." Who is complaining? I mentioned that people are within their rights to speculate, even if they end up looking foolish in the long run. Those who would speculate without more context (which was recently released, though the footage shown is old) may do so, but it really is more of an indictment of gamers, who can be too quick to call an unfinished game incredible, or too quick to call it unremarkable.
How do you know it has no substance from a 6 second video? Your comment is generic trolling as usual.
At least you tried.
Graphical showcase? Looks mediocre at best.
Good attempt tho
generic....co-op slasher? what are those exactly because i can't think of one. And don't say diablo because these are not the same kind of games
'Generic' is when people have no idea how to find an excuse to bash a game haha
you make xbox fans look bad..
You're the worst type of Xbox fanboy
Doesn't even look that great graphically. It looks like a PS4Pro game really. Nothing that screams next-gen. Then again we keep getting more and more diminishing returns.
*sees 6 seconds of gameplay* "Yep, another generic hack n' slash. 4/10." You should go work for Gaming Bolt.
I love how you can tell this from the seven second GIF
Visually speaking, if this is how high quality next-gen third party titles will be at the start then imagine how incredible stuff will look a few years down the line. Very exciting. Honestly can’t wait to see next gen Spider-Man.
Yeah, I'm seeing this on a phone screen and it looks pretty good from a graphical standpoint. On a 4K set with HDR & possible Ray Tracing for improved lighting etc then it'll no doubt look amazing. I'm not sold on the gameplay just yet but there's still plenty of time to win me over. But you're right, first party games are going to look spectacular.
It's so easy to not be impressed while having no offering of your own. It's a Soul-Like, what were you expecting? What's your launch game contribution, it had better impress. Game looks nice, good job to the Godfall team!!
Looks like some haptic feedbackll be happening there. I want to see more. Looks cool, always doen for a souls like action game. Or just refined combat mechanics w.e. you want to call it.
They look just like the max effects settings on warframe pro and one x have.
Other than the particles, not impressed at all by the graphics.
It's probably a ray-tracing + particle effects showcase
How can you tell obviously the resolution of the gif is really low.
Wow, I'm sure the Godfall team was awaiting your input before they moved forward. What are you developing again?
Glad they’re showing actual “in game” footage.
That looks very smooth. But graphically it doesn't seem like something that couldn't be done in this gen. It looks similar to anthem graphics.
How can you even tell online, it's not even rendered in high def....?🤔
come on now, you can tell that's not gonna be a nextgen showcase title.
Looks good, although not the best showcase for a Next gen title.
Its the only showcase so far.
Make sure to reinforce your jaw. Once PlayStation shows their 1st party, it's over.
This does not look next-gen to me at all. Not impressed.
This game looks so good. Looking forward to this looter. Love the look of the combat. 3rd-person lock-on combat with swords and other weapons is sweet
Looks exactly like a launch window title in this early look...both visually and mechanically. Nothing that hasn't already been done.
Don't worry your sweet heart, the real hitters are yet to be shown.
