Another year without Sony (and especially its PS5) spells trouble for E3 as we know it.
Sounds about right.
I have spoken...:P Without any doubt.
This is the way.
I'm not sure how it hurts the ps5 at all. They'll still make all of their announcements, only difference being, they'll have complete control over it. When the console maker that's closing out the gen with over 100 million sales tells you "this isn't going to work anymore", perhaps you should rethink your business strategy.
It's really like the games news media just relishes in being wrong almost all the time.
They might just let Microsoft spill all their beans, then come in and 1UP them at every turn a week later.
That's actually not a bad strategy. Though I think in terms of console specs, "the hay is in the barn" so to speak at this point. Not sure if Sony could make any major adjustments to the PS5's design this late in the process.
They doubled PS4's RAM at the last second, surprising most devs last time around...
If you look at how Sony is handling things, they are actually coming out first with most of the important information. It's been MS that's been following. The first one up that MS has really gotten is a 1st party game announcement, and the look of the console. Same thing happened last gen, and last gen MS delayed its reveal event because of it...which is scary because their reveal event was still god awful.
E3 still a thing??
Wait until June. I’d love to see your comment on this site during that month.
The last two e3s weren’t anything too spectacular
I remember last June and how everybody said that Sony won e3 from MS without even being there. That June your referring to?
The end of microsoft's presentation is still being used as a base for memes, it was the most impactful (to popular culture) gaming presentation ever (keanu reeves). I think most people want to see microsoft fail. I've noticed in any comment section everytime anyone says anything positive for them is overwhelmingly downvoted even if it is a fact and doesn't attack anyone (The most powerfull one I remember is downvoting into oblivion a comment saying that game pass is a good deal for gamers). That being said, I don't like that Sony isn't there. Last sony's presentation was great as a presentation (but weak regarding new games, and I think they didn't want to compete because this was starting to show)
“ I remember last June and how everybody said that Sony won e3 from MS without even being there.” Who said it? And they won with what exactly? How can someone win something without even attending it?
@King Several major-ish websites with a penchant for cozying up to MS said it. Then of course, lots of people on here were laughing at how Sony pretty much stole MS thunder. I know you were around, so i know you know that all happened. Was it true? I couldn't say, because the notion of "winning" is a rather vaguely defined and rhetorical metric. I'd say at the very least, Sony didn't lose anything, nor did MS.
I wonder if having all the bad press talking about the change from one venue for the last of us 2 to the other venue for the rest of the show pissed them off back in 2018 and made them say F em. The whining about that was unreasonable and unnecessary to say the least. especially when they showed two of the top games, the last of us 2 and ghost of tsushima, in full length gameplay which was amazing to say the least. They don't need E3 because they were E3.
I think it hurt both, although E3 is the one who is taking the most hit.
You will have to explain how this hurts Sony. Sony wasn't there last year, and after scarlett was revealed, most of the talk was about the ps5 news that came out a month prior.... Sony, and the others honestly don't need e3. We consume information much differently.
It wont hurt PS5 at all the only thing that will hurt PS5 is over pricing and poor launch line up
I'm still waiting for xbox to say again, THIS IS GOING TO BE OUR BIGGEST AND LONGEST E3 EVER, WERE GOING TO GO BIG!!! OH YEAH WERE GOING TO GO BIG, THIS TIME!!! Than the day comes, I'm bored to death, falling asleep and completely disappointed in their lackluster long ass boring show, and yeah they did go big I guess, but if only it were also a good show for a change.
So, each year you fall asleep. Why watch it, then?
He doesn’t watch it
Best two shows of E3 were an hour long, and had almost no talking. Two years of Sony's E3, where they had an orchestra and just showed games, then the follow up year where they didn't do the orchestra, but had a similar format. Fun, entertaining, showed games without filler, no sales talk, and no self-congratulatory PR to say how awesome they were and how much they loved gamers or gaming. Just games, in a concise and entertaining presentation.
If anything the ps5 will benefit from it. All the money they'd spend at E3, they can use to create more exclusives for the ps5. And there are other events throughout the year to attend. Enough with the doom and gloom articles.
E3 will be fine. This stuff is like saying a vending machine is doomed for not having drpepper. Some people gotta chill. Same people claiming e3 is irrelevant are the same ones that never stopped talking floor space size til the e3 absence.
Agreed. If I can't have my Sony vs MS superbowl I may as well just not watch and get the score through articles posted after the fact. I'll watch Sony's PS5 reveal event wherever and whenever they have it instead.
Nope, not buying it.
We are in the digital age . We don’t read magazines and wait for shows to get information like we used to. Live-streams Twitter and all of the other stuff is easily accessed . E3 is nice for the people that go but it’s really unnecessary in today’s environment especially considering the premium cost for just getting the space let alone costs of the actual show. Big companies don’t need E3 these days
I still read magazines...
