Game developers are getting into a bad habit of announcing games way too early, and it could be killing hype for some of their titles.
Techland wants to switch to a shorter development cycle of three to four year at the most for its games, starting with Dying Light: The Beast.
Very good dev length for a AAA/AA game I'd say. Companies need to set an aim for this range. 1-2 is too little, I believe 3-4 is perfect. Any more is too much. Games don't need to be these gigantic games full of a crazy amount of content. Just make a good game.
No new content is coming to the game on the PS platform even if we're promised an exciting future.
This is a good version of this just okay third-person shooter / hack & slash action game.
Announcing games early doesn't hurt my feelings, I'm ok with the pratice.
Nothing wrong with it, always nice to know what's expected in the future.
While I agree with the author, gamers in general seems to like it. So, publishers will continue.
I never understood why publishers announce games if they have absolutely nothing to show. Metroid Prime 4 and Elder Scroll are two good examples.
