MMO's with RNG systems should not be considered.

It's interesting that Sony had two of the longest games considering some people claim their games are short one and dones. It's largely not the case, Sony actually has plenty of robust games. Days Gone, Death Stranding, GT Sport, U4, HZD, MLB The Show, KZ SF, Bloodborne, Let it Die, LBP3, TLoU Remastered, Ni No Kuni II, The Nathan Drake Collection, Judgement, Firewall, Rigs, God of War, Driveclub, Dreams, and the upcoming Predator and TLoU II look to have plenty of play. Even Godfall appears to be a lengthy type of game. Then, rumors of a mp SOCOM.

There are actually very few short PS4 exclusives. The Order is sort of an aberration, even Gravity Rush 2 has a 53 hour platinum time and a 34 hour average. The story is nearly double that of the rebooted Tomb Raider games.

Trails of cold steel is number #1 for a reason it has 1.2 MILLION WORDS in the story. If your playing this game and finishing in 65 hours you think you enjoyed the story but you only got a little of it. It has been proven that when it comes to emotion, you cant speed read and get an emotional impact! Plus to put this in perspective it is 500 thousand more words than the bible. It is bigger than all three harry potter books combined. Not to mention over a 80 boss fights and countless non-boss enemies. This game should take you at least 200 hours if you doing more than the bare minimum.

Bard's Tale IV director's cut released this year on consoles. I am sure it should be right there.

If you finish Death Stranding in less than 40 hours why are you playing the game? Some chapters took me nearly 40 hours. Granted i am playing on hard, but still.

I guess playing on easy and speeding through the story could technically net you a 39 hour play time, but the cutscenes alone make up nearly 12 hours. So are people actually completing the game portion in 27 hours? Chapters 2 and 3 combined should take you more than 27 hours alone.

Good lord.

I have put over 100 hours in and i'm not even finished with the story. I feel like Death Stranding is an extremely long game, perhaps too long, but still incredible.

Days Gone is another meaty game, but 36 hours for just the story at least sounds more reasonable. Playing on hard and going for the platinum will net you almost twice that. Then, add in all the free DLC and the NG+/survivor modes and it's a very robust game. The photo mode also accounts for quite a few hours.

ummm its like trails of cold steel people like to brag and they think we dont know when they are telling a fish story!

jeromeface1944d ago

No one I know is spending hours on photo mode....

I'm well over 100hrs into Death Stranding and I'm fairly certain that I'm about halfway done lol

That's not proof, it's your opinion
which means you are lying, or you are a writer for a living who doesn't know what "prove" means
which is it?

Content writers have to be hyperbolic.

On n4g, I frequently get so annoyed by comments that I take the time to login so I can downvote someone. Today is such a day. What a pointless comment…

jambola10d ago

that's pretty pathetic
Can't believe you're talking about pointless, and bragging about downvoting someone lmao

I logged in just to downvote as well, and even took the time to comment to make them aware of the fact lmao

Got the Director's Cut platinum a couple of hours ago.
Ready for DS2 now.

Storm2325d ago

I have been slowly working my way though this game for months. I keep playing other games in between but I want to finish it before DS2.

Knushwood Butt24d ago

I ended up with over 140 hours on it, but I wasn't exactly rushing. Ended up seeing to it that all roads were rebuilt too.
There are still a few Half Life missions left that I think I'll do.

lukasmain25d ago

Man I love this game. Platinumed it and played through it a 2nd time just for fun. I'm day 1 with bells on for the sequel

anast25d ago (Edited 25d ago )

In still drop in this world from time to time. I just played it yesterday.

Video Games Proud To Not Be For Everyone

Plenty of games have made a name for themselves as being proud of the fact they’re not to everyone’s taste over the years.

If you make something for everyone, you please no one.

mkis00783d ago

I mean I can do without nintendo games if given the choice. They are not nearly as mature rated as the average.

Yui_Suzumiya82d ago (Edited 82d ago )

Yeah but I use my Switch OLED primarily for anime booba style games (visual novels and JRPG's) and ultra violent FPS's. Far from kid friendly, lol

JohnBLZ82d ago

The problem with that line of though is that games have never been as much "for everyone" as in 2025.
The only thing that's not for everyone in gaming lately is the gatekeeping. Devs will try to appeal to as many people as they can, but if you dare have your own tastes and prefer something a bit more obscure, then you have "L takes" because at the moment, popular opinion equals right opinion.
So devs should simply own the fact they water down their games and go Hollywood to please everybody. Then indies will go back to being trendsetters that are different from AAAs, instead of being roguelike and gacha copycats.

Okay, but "games I'm not meant to love" means I won't play them.
Games are for fun. They're their own art, it's a disservice to reduce them to interactive stories. You can focus on making your audience entertained on a positive way and still stand out.

jznrpg82d ago

No game is for everyone. Some games are more mainstream or casual friendly but there is always someone who won’t like it. Same with anything else
