What's wrong with it being about colonization? Colonization was a major part of history, for better or for worse, it was a thing.

The controversy seems to be about the glorifying of colonialism, which isn’t something that should done, as it’s pretty damn horrible (is because it’s still happening) and the effects of it are still very present.

I'm primarily a console guy and I admit that New World looks like the business. The game looks awesome. At the very least it's intriguing.
