Take on the roles of different people facing different challenges and each overcoming their own nightmare in Contagion VR: Outbreak
PP: Contagion VR: Outbreak offers some decent zombie-killing fun with a slew of weapons that feel and sound great. Outside of the first level, the environments and zombies lack detail, and the voice acting is Thomas Wiseau levels of bad, but the disjointed story does build some tension. It's priced a little high at this point, but if they continue to clean it up and deliver the promised (and good) fourth level, then it would be easier to recommend.
So is the game only three levels of detail lacking zombies and bad voice acting?
Only Move controllers with cumbersome reloads? Sounds like there will be some tense moments trying to reload a new gun after you've been using a different one for a while. 3D rudder compatible if you don't like the Skyrim way of movement.
I will give it a try and await the free fourth level when it is finished.
Contagion VR: Outbreak released on PSVR in North America on November 12th, but the EU release of the game was delayed at the last minute due to some cock-ups with the correct paperwork for the game. The developer, Monochrome, has since stated on its official Discord channel that the EU release is set for November 27th.
Pure PlayStation: Bad news if you were buzzing about the release of Contagion VR: Outbreak today. Well, bad if you live in Europe; it’s not releasing today.
"It's hard to say how it felt off all I know is that usually after any period of adjustment you usually learn to be fairly competent with the weapons in VR, with this game though, no matter how much I played it and practiced my shots, I still found it incredibly difficult to pull off head shots and sometimes to even hit the zombies at all. This is in complete contrast to any other VR shooter I’ve played where I’ve eventually learned to adjust to the way it works and I can play fairly well, it could be that I just wasn’t very good at the game but given my track record, I should have seen at least some improvement."
Guess you've never played Perfect Sniper with the worst aiming controls and drifting problems in any VR game I would bet.
I like the sound of the three missions with each one being very different from the next. The third mission which removes the shooting to instead look for emblems to solve puzzles was something I did not expect. Thankfully the inclusion of the free roam will make the game feel longer than what I can only guess are fairly short missions. Wish there was some mention of mission length for each or completion time for the entire game.
Many games in VR I have trouble picking things up off the ground. In Superhot there were times I could not pick I gun up off the ground because the in game floor was lower that the real life floor. In Batman VR I had trouble even to use the key on the piano. I'm sure those problems could have been fixed by simply adjusting the camera, but fear that it would also create problems for other VR games in the process. Sounds like in Contagion there will be a few different ways to grab things off the ground, crouch being a good addition.
Too bad there was no mention of what different controller types were or could be used, along with the type of locomotion.
Going to look at some playthrough videos to see hows the gameplay. Was definitely planning on getting the game and still am most likely, just need to see and read a bit more.
