Play RE4 after Rev2 and tell me the controls don't need an update.

shaun mcwayne2007d ago

Yep controls need an update. Unless your still rockin the wii version.

bishup252007d ago (Edited 2007d ago )

the content is much different in Re4.
no longer sporting zombies and the introduction of grenades and faster weapons.
Re4 was not the inspiration to the horror genre but mostly to many action titles.
If anything a Re4 remake will feel a whole lot more familiar to the games we're already been playing the past 2 generations.

nix2007d ago

Yeah... The controls. It felt like driving a tank.

roadkillers2007d ago

Yeah, we need an remake in 5-10 years. RE4 took around 5 years to develop after RE3.

SyntheticForm2007d ago

The controls in RE4 feel like you're driving a tank in reverse while missing three wheels and the tracks missing.

bouzebbal2007d ago

Just play re5 if you want.. The downfall of this series started with this one.. I absolutely hated it when it came out. It was highly overhyped after great 1 and zero on gamecube but it had nothing of re

JonTheGod2007d ago

You can fix that with a patch.

Army_of_Darkness2007d ago

I'd love to reply re4 with upgraded graphics and controls! I'm sure it would look f#@king amazing! Just look at re2 remake.

Segata2007d ago

Just add motion aiming and fixed. Wii version had the best controls.

the game that inspired many shooters. love Re4 or hate Re4 it became the industry standard.
I definitely would pick up the remake. but i'm expecting it to play like most 3rd person games.

neutralgamer19922007d ago

Yes a complete remake on RE engine for current and next Gen consoles. RE4 remake with up to date controls and other improvements

D__RAiL2007d ago

heres a solution dont play it

wwinterj2006d ago

I wouldn't mind one but I agree it doesn't need one.

Resident evil 4 needs a total reboot ....aka just keep the protagonist (Leon), the 3rd person view and the europe setting and change everything else -->the fast action , the QTE, the melee moves, the presidents daughter, the cult , the las plaguas , the BS atmosphere, the colors, the lighting , the BS giants, the childish uniinspired bosses , the goonies kid , etcetce almost everyhting and make it from the start..... at least to resemble a Resident Evil game like RE 2 Remake ....RE4 was the downfall of RE series that led indirectly to the absolute garbage sht RE7

ocelot072007d ago

Agreed if they they where to remake resident evil 4. Change the story up so it lines up with what happened with Resident Evil 1-3. Resident Evil 4 was the start that changed Resident Evil for the worst.

I agree RE4 led to shit but RE7 brought it back to survival horror. Been playing RE games since 96 and I thought RE7 was amazing!

Lon3wolf2007d ago

Agreed 7 was great (also played since the original days), I was not keen on 4 and above until 7.

NukeDaHippies2007d ago (Edited 2007d ago )

Everything you said about RE 4 is great, not bad. And I thought RE 7 was pretty good. Judging how RE 2 came out, I'd say it's in large part to 7.

Uninspired boss fights? Compared to what? a big snake?? RE 4 had the best boss fights in there series period.

AdmGenAladeen2007d ago

Wiser words have never been spoken! RE4 was the start of the RE series demise. If you wanna play RE4 updated, just got watch any Expendables movie and pretend the enemies are that stupid cult.

froy4022007d ago

Agreed on everything you said except for

(...RE4 was the downfall of RE series that led indirectly to the absolute garbage sht RE7)

Resident evil 7 was great and a fresh return to its survival horror roots unlike resident 4 which was more action based, more like resident evil 4 led to re5 re6 survival action games

Nope

Just remake Code Veronica and call it Resident Evil 4 with Leon instead of Chris

Another Leon and Claire game in an even numbered Resident Evil game. Job done.

If they have a chance to change things so the plagas don't appear in it then I want them to take it, no plagas means no infected with guns, no Uroboros, no Wesker dying in a Volcano with steroid Chris punching a boulder along with the lack of Jill or the rest of STARS to take him down and Resident Evil 6 doesn't happen at all.

I love Resident Evil 4 but the plagas started a chain of events in future games, and I don't want them to repeat it.

KaaF2007d ago

What the hell are you blathering about?!

-Foxtrot2007d ago

Really? You picked me to say this to

You did see naruga’s comment above right...

Hardiman2007d ago

I'm with ya Fox. Been a RE fan since 96 and have played every mainline title and RE4 was awesome the thing is it led to 5&6. It did more for action titles than horror.

What I and many want is Code Veronica being remade. It was incredible in 2000. After playing RE games on PS1 it was mind blowing!

Remake 4 later if they must but make it more scary than action.

nucky642007d ago

you really make sense with that - it'll never happen but it makes sense.

Chard2007d ago

Or just remake Code Veronica and call it Code Veronica. Jesus

xxShadow-Shockxx2007d ago

I agree with you, I don't think they should change up Code Veronica though, remake it but leave the game how it is and then remake and make the necessary changes to RE4. Capcom has a good opportunity to fix the mess they created, I've been playing RE since the 1st and the story and gameplay of the future RE's became something that was no longer RE starting with RE4, RE4 was a great game but it just wasn't Resident Evil. I just want Capcom to see how well RE2 remake was, and to see how well received RE2 and RE3 have been and use that going forward and fix the remainder of this series and get it back on track.

Hardiman2006d ago

Like how you think and I don't think RECV should be called RE4. It should be RECV.

The only way I want RE4 remade if it is tweeked more towards survival horror. It wouldn't be difficult to do this. They have the template they used for RE2 and the upcoming RE3.

Tross2007d ago (Edited 2007d ago )

I think RE4 has aged well enough. Just continuing to port it to systems is fine. CVX could use a remake though.

Ex-Naughty Dog Dev Says Resident Evil 4 Inspired Uncharted and Many More Action Games

Former Naughty Dog dev says Resident Evil 4 inspired Unchartted and even Gears of War, particularly the over-the-shoulder camera view.

CrimsonWing6926d ago

It revolutionized third-person shooters, in a genius way that gives you full control of aiming.

CrimsonWing6926d ago

No, I mean RE4. Like the whole snap to over-shoulder and precision aiming was what I meant.

I won’t deny Winback does pave the way in some respect. But it’s not the same at all.

InUrFoxHole26d ago

Both are great series. That's awesome

Samonuske26d ago

I thought this was common knowledge. Resident Evil Revolutionised over the shoulder aiming in 3rd person shooters/action games

italiangamer26d ago (Edited 26d ago )

Influenced basically every third person action game made after it, GTA uses the over the shoulder perspective when shooting since the 4th installment, Red Dead Redemption 1 & 2 too and the Batman Arkham series has the over the shoulder perspective as the main camera throughout the whole game series.
Obviously there are a ton more examples but you get the point 🗿.

Simon's Quest is better than Symphony.

If you're gonna troll, at least make a legitimate attempt.

Levii_9235d ago

Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.

Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.

LG_Fox_Brazil35d ago

That's a pretty fucking great list

__y2jb34d ago (Edited 34d ago )

The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.
