IGN: Artist in Residence: Mirror's Edge

Traditionally it's been hard to separate art from technology in the world of videogames. When critics praise a game's visuals it frequently sounds like a laundry list of technical features as much as an appreciation for the underlying aesthetic. Mirror's Edge is a terrific technical achievement, but its unmistakable art style is even more impressive. Where many games prefer to wallow in the ruined details of imaginary apocalypse, Mirror's Edge presents a surreal utopia of primary colors, glowing pastels, and minimal clutter.

IGN got the chance to speak with Johannes Soderqvist, Art Director at DICE, about how the game's visuals came together and what artistic inspiration influenced his work in creating one of this generation's most distinctive games. Here's what he had to say.

I have played a demo for Mirror's Edge, and i have to say this games is going to be one badass game, I give this game a 10 out of 10. I know X-Play and other gamer mags give this game a 10 to, and a Game of the Years Award.
