I don't think game streaming will do well this generation, it's off to a bad start with Stadia

Game ownership is much more important to me, I'll never stream games

I don't think most countries have the infrastructure for it yet, I'm sure when that does happen though, plenty of casuals might prefer it.

No. Im sure it'll raise a bit, but it's not going to "take off" till the infrastructure is there and things like datacaps are gone.

Yep and I can see internet providers raising costs once they see a certain amount of data come in from game streaming

Remote Play and X Cloud of your own games you bought for free is fine for streaming.

Paying companies for loss of ownership, always online, 24 hour check ins, no trading or lending, reduced quality, no mods and possible delisting of games is not cool in my book. 2013 all over again if we let it happen. Just repackaged with new coats of paint.

Unfortunately, i think all gaming will eventually turn to streaming. Look what happened to movies, tv, and music. Its a direction that will require great internet connections and right now it certainly isnt accessible to everyone just yet.

I personally dont care for streaming and being online just to play a game. I prefer physical media and just play at odd times when my busy schedule permits. I prefer a longer storied game as opposed to most online MP games. I know anything can be streamed, but i prefer to have said game in hand as opposed to the alternate, but thats just me.

No because unlike movies and TV shows games are 100 interactive and latency is a real thing. It was a real thing 8 years ago with OnLive and its still an issue with Google stadia. Up next xcloud which Xbox fans are running wild with but end of the day it will suffer the same fate

Latency
Data caps
infrastructure
FTC favoring companies
Companies can charge whatever they want

Gaming streaming can only work if infrastructure improves. Google is worth 900 billion and if they can't get it right what makes anyone think ms, Sony etc will

Here is where I see gaming in 10 years. 75% digital/25% physical and by ps6/next Xbox we will start to see many games only get digitally released avoiding physical all together. This is why if you like gaming buy as many games as you possibly can and keep them in your collection. Physical media will only go up in price due to high demand and low availability

rainslacker2031d ago

All those things aren't primarily streamed. TV certainly isn't anywhere near the majority. Movies still have traditional distribution models. Music has moved more digital than physical, but streaming itself isn't the majority, although it's doing pretty well.

Game streaming will continue to rise. Take off though may be premature for 2020.

"Players can now hide system apps, pin favorites to the list, and reduce the number of tiles displayed. This update is part of our ongoing effort to make Home more personal, flexible, and responsive to feedback."

This is welcomed, i like a less cluttered home screen.

Well its MS news... those are usually pretty dry, unless it has something to do with another game being ported to PS. then its top of the pops.

Oh look no further than the "Upcoming layoffs at MS" topic. It will easily top the Hottest of the week.

Special guests like Mr. Dead might also show up. You just watch.

Playdead co-founder slammed with lawsuit as bitter row with co-founder escalates

Playdead co-founder Dino Patti is allegedly being sued by his former studio and business partner.
Patti was threatened with a lawsuit earlier this year after he posted a now-deleted LinkedIn post that shared an "unauthorized" picture of co-founder Arnt Jensen and discussed some of Limbo's development. Patti said Jensen demanded a little over $73,000 in "suitable compensation and reimbursement," adding that he had "repeatedly" had such letters over the last nine years.
