Pokemon Sword & Shield is the fastest selling Switch game of all time

The Pokemon Company have published a press release about the first-week sales for Sword & Shield. The game is the best selling software on Nintendo Switch of all time.

6 million worldwide and 2 mil in Japan.

Fantastic sales! Everyone knew it was going to sell well, but I am sure many did not see these numbers coming. It is a good and fun game that I am enjoying immensely, but not without flaws.

Week 2 be interesting for a series that consistently sells 10-15 million 6 million is great but it’s barely ultra sun/moon lifetime sales Arguably the least liked in the series. A series like this has millions of fans myself included once they’ve got their copy who’s still buying week 2-3. That’s when it’ll get interesting.

It took sun and moon two weeks to reach 7 million sales

Right now it’s tracking ahead of sun and moon and it’s doing it with less system sold there are less switch in the market vs 3ds when sun and moon come out

A minimum of 5 easily. The worst in the series still sold 6-8 million/ultra sun and moon still sold 8.5+ million.... the previous sun/moon standard first ones 16 million.. so there’s a clear gap between great well recieved games and the fans just lapping it up. Wasn’t a massive fan of sun and moon either but wasn’t terrible. Still think these new ones will clear 10 million quite comfortably

The game needs a hell of a lot of fixes but given how much this sold (and this is an insane amount, can't wait to see the Switch/Switch Lite sales along with it and in the coming weeks) I doubt they're fix it.

6 Million and 700k switch systems as well in under a week is just insane. Regardless of what you think of the game Nintendo has learnt a lot since the Wii U with what to release and how to market it
