Neonridr2033d ago

man, that means Japan alone accounted for a huge chunk of the global sales for the week.

trunkswd2033d ago

Japan loves their handhelds and the Switch is the only "handheld" on the market. Other than 3DS which is on its way out.

King_Noctis2032d ago

Its gonna be very interesting once the PS5 arrives. Nintendo is gonna have to up their games (literally) if they want to keep outselling the competition.

xX-oldboy-Xx2032d ago

PS5 will obliterate all once it's released. Nothing will come close.

How good is xbox doing in Europe? /s

Nintendo this time have a better starting lead to start the new generation

Wii U had a 5 to 6 million lead before ps4 and Xbox one came out the ps4 blew thru that lead like it was nothing

Switch by time other 9th gen systems arrive to join switch it should have a 50 million head start no one blowing thru that lead quickly

I remember Xbox 360 had a nice lead over ps3 and Wii for 7th gen like almost 2 years or I might be wrong but Wii came back and took 1st

Ps2 had a lead over GameCube and Xbox coming out first and setting a name for themselves

I’m curious to see if a 50 million lead can last nintendo until 10th gen or will Sony blow thru it and come back

Switch don’t turn 3 years old until March for a system not 3 years old yet it did well I regret never getting stock

So far we only have 2 9th gen systems stadia and switch

RosweeSon2032d ago

They’ll go next gen before too long 2022 my guess poss even 2021 make it BC no one gets left behind we’ve already had Mario kart and odyssey smash Bros 2 Pokemon’s 2 Zeldas soon a 3rd luigis mansion 3.
Not an awful lot left from their usual big hitters to release for this gen. That and Nintendo have consistently stuck to 4-6 year console cycles for their home consoles, sure this is handheld also but they won’t be riding out switch for another 5 years

xX-oldboy-Xx2032d ago

Especially in Europe - they've tried valiantly to change the gaming landscape - seems Europeans are seeing straight through their tactics.

Muzikguy2032d ago

I still look at these and feel like they're being way too generous to Xbox One. Now we are back to less than 2:1 selling ratio in the states. I doubt that

CaptainHenry9162032d ago (Edited 2032d ago )

I'm surprised Xbox one is not at 50 million yet. It's been almost 7 years. Hard to believe

RosweeSon2032d ago

It’s really not when you think that a solid 50% of their previous install base on 360 bought 2 consoles probably 3. They sold 85/90 million works out at about 45/50 million owners max when you factor in they replacing their faulty consoles.
I had a launch and elite and Star Wars model. Bought 1 xb1 and sold it 4 months later. Not buying another. Always said they’d struggle to clear 50 mill this gen looks like I’ll be wrong but only very just 😜😂🥴

RosweeSon2032d ago

Wow 2 weeks and Xbox in 3rd 😅🥴🤷 27995;‍♂️😂

Looks like the Switch will have outsold the XBO before this month is over. Most impressive.

trunkswd2033d ago

I don't think many people would have thought the Switch would outsell the lifetime sales of the Xbox One as quickly as it did.

darthv722032d ago

It was expected, especially since it is the only 9th gen platform uncontested. It is not a mid gen refresh like sony and ms did to extend their 8th gen presence. It is an overlap platform and its sales will be compared to sony and ms next gen systems.

King_Noctis2032d ago

“ since it is the only 9th gen platform uncontested“

You right, however do consumers buy the Switch and care about what gen it is in? I don’t think so.

Brave_Losers_Unite2032d ago

What do you expect when it has better games and exclusives? Xbox is losing sales and will be forgotten about unless Microsoft makes some big changes because right now they aren't attracting sales

MasterCornholio2032d ago

I'm really tempted to pick up the new Pokemon game. However I have my doubts on whether it's worth it.

trunkswd2032d ago

It's my first non-first gen Pokemon game and I'm enjoying it. I've only played Blue, Yellow and Let's Go Eevee. If you've played them all I'd still say it's probably worth it.

King_Noctis2032d ago (Edited 2032d ago )

The game is good, especially if you don’t play Pokemon game before that much. It has a lot of quality of life improvements that make the game flow better and play better.

However, if you had played ton of Pokemon games before, this one isn’t really worth it. Gamefreak need to up their game or at risk of becoming a relic of the past.

King82032d ago

The switch is going outsell the Xbox one soon which got to be embarrassing for Microsoft who will finish this generation in last place.

darthv722032d ago

2nd place you mean. Switch has a commanding lead for 9th gen.

King_Noctis2032d ago

At this point gen doesn’t matter anymore for Nintendo. They’re off doing their own thing, although that doesn’t mean they aren’t a competition to Sony and MS.

Brave_Losers_Unite2032d ago

Darth you say some of the most pointless things. Bottom line is that Switch is going to outsell Xbox One total sales and has less time out in the market by a long shot

darthv722032d ago

Brave, we all know switch is going to outsell xbo. But that was not the point of kings comment. It was part but his point about xbo finishing last is incorrect. Its a factual impossibility. Wiiu has that honor.

Neonridr2031d ago

I do find it funny how the mid gen refreshes offered a more significant leap in technology over what the Switch did to the Wii U but we act like the Switch is next gen just because it released earlier. Switch is selling against XB1 and PS4 consoles in the market now, not what is coming in the future.

If this is honestly the way we are thinking then the Scarlett and PS5 will be behind the Switch by about 55ish million units and will have a long ways to go to catch up.

You can only compare what is available now.

Gemmol2032d ago

Xbox One is safe for second place Wii U died no chance of taking 2nd

But I get where you going off we remove Wii U and put generations to the side then yes Switch did something amazing and caught up to a 8th gen system in less than 3 years on the market

Switch don’t become 3 years old until March

BLow2032d ago (Edited 2032d ago )

Don't you find it funny that certain fanboys talk about generations when the company they root for is trying to erase them and has said it themselves.

Ausbo2032d ago

The biggest news here is that there are still vitas on the shelf
