The Indie Game Website writes: "Rune II is the sequel to a nearly 20-year-old PC game and possibly most notable for one of the most awkward launches in a long while. This open-world Viking-themed action game mixes a horde of elements together to create a game that is fun for the right audience, but also a mess of issues. To make matters worse, the developer, Human Head Studios, announced they had dissolved the day after the game’s release without telling the game’s publisher, Ragnarok Game."
Sony take note. Acquisitions come with both benefits, and pitfalls. In taking control ZeniMax Media, Microsoft got its mitts on the incredible, innumerable IP found in the sprawling toy-box of this inimitable publisher. This of course includes Bethesda Softworks. Once beloved creator of the popular Fallout series, but crucially the sculptors of the incredible Elder Scrolls Universe. Sounds pretty good right? Well, following an amendment to a suit filed by Ragnarok Games, the $7.5b price tag might not tell the whole picture.
Why does Sony have to take note? Acquisitions happen all of the time in all aspects of business outside of video games. There are always risks and rewards.
edit:
Curious to see how this goes. Horde Events, Monsters, and New Dungeons Levels Showcased in Gamescom Debut Trailer.
RISE WARRIOR! Ragnarok, the end of days, is upon you. Heed the call of the gods as it’s the only chance to save mankind from the trickster Loki.
Not bad I suppose.
