Let's get this out of the way: The Outer Worlds is an absolute testament and gift to Obsidian's longstanding dedication to the art of RPG development.

Really good, but I wish it was longer and had more content. DLC hopefully.

timotim1612d ago

Congrats to Obsidian for being nominated for awards at the VGAs! Def deserve it.

A good game even though it sticks to the old fallout formula. Nothing revolutionary, but solid and engaging throughout. Still don't understand why you can't throw grenades in the game. I played a lot of good RPG games and I still wouldn't give Outer worlds GOTY. I'll nominate it for best RPG game of the year but Monster Hunter World definitely gives it competition

Italiano12345671612d ago

I just beat it. Its good not great. One thing that really pissed me off was load screen after load screen. I was pretty satisfied overall though

pwnmaster30001612d ago

Facts, there was so much moments where I wanted to throw a grenade.

I felt like this game was kind of unfinished, but purposely. Like They wanted to show us a teaser what they will have in the future and be prepared to see something better, but you have to buy the next Xbox or something.. I hope they make a DLC, because after you beat the game, there really isn’t anything else and it doesn’t take long to beat it.

Daeloki1612d ago

It's a decent game (and I'm having some fun with it), but it is definitely not as good as all these reviews and the hype make it out to be. It's riding on the popularity of New Vegas and the fact that it's better than FO4 & FO76 (not a very high bar now is it?). It's not a bad game, but people seem to turn a blind eye to the fact that the game has plenty of bugs, repetitive af fetch-quests and an average at best plot. Again, I'm not saying it's a bad game, it's just not worth all this over-the-top praise it's getting, and it's definitely not a 9/10.

Movefasta19931612d ago

tell me some of your favourite games, guarantee there'd be some I disagree with being great.

Daeloki1612d ago

While I was definitely speaking of my personal opinion, I would also argue that objectively speaking Outer Worlds is at most good game, not great. Meaning the overall grade should be somewhere around 7/10.
My main point was that most reviews seem to be largely influenced by Obsidians reputation, rather than the game itself. Several players have been pointing out it's flaws such as classic glitches/bugs seen in recent Bethesda games, lack of grenades, repetitive fetch-quests, empty world, yet reviewers are looking trough their fingers on that front.

pwnmaster30001612d ago

I love this game but I impersonally don’t think it’s better then fall out..
The world is kinda empty compare to a fallout game and it seems kind of short. Yeah given I played on the normal setting but every game I play is on the normal setting, so this game is pretty short for a dog. which is kind of disappointing since I was expecting fall out new Vegas long. Also I hate how there isn’t grenades, that’s kind of a bummer and this game is really easy. I don’t think I struggled once at all. I’m not good at shooters, so I die a lot even in normal, but I had no trouble with this game. In matter fact I felt kind of OP.

Daeloki1612d ago

Agreed mostly, I still feel like Outer Worlds was more enjoyable than FO4, but the rest of your remarks are spot on, especially the grenades... There were so many moments in my playtrough where my first instinct was to throw a grenade and then I'd remember I can't. It's not something I got used to either, it just felt like it should have been there. Can you have phantom pain for grenades?

Movefasta19931612d ago (Edited 1612d ago )

normal mode is casual mode in most games, it's been like for several generations. You had no trouble with this game because it's so easy, and not once did you bother thinking, hold on, let me increase the difficulty?? Ok. And clearly you have experience with these sort of rpgs since you mentioned new vegas, that's not a shooter, infact the shooting sucks in these type of rpgs.

pwnmaster30001612d ago (Edited 1612d ago )

@Movefasta1993

I literally stated I play every game in normal setting and even then there is some sort of struggle and not just combat, but getting loot or money. You know how many times I died in fallout elderscroll or basically any game in normal, I’m not a good gamer, but this game I literally had no problem with anything.
Getting good gears easy
Getting money- easy
Killing a whole city in one day of playing- easy
Even getting the science weapon was super easy.
I’m not saying it’s bad. I actually love it, but IMO is pretty lacking compare to the other fallout games or elderscroll (besides FO76)

Also I felt like the stats didn’t really matter for the weaponry.

IRetrouk1612d ago

Good game, but not great, no real variation in missions, and the end game is a drag, becomes a fast travel fest with nothing but load screens. Loot system isn't the best either, and the weapons lack punch, I liked it ok enough, but plenty for them to work on if a followup is made.

Finally, Resistance: Retribution 🔥

It's an alright month overall. I think Sony should try to more consistently get some high quality indies Day 1 in the service, e.g. Ultros would have been good. Those have usually been some of the better months, e.g. Stray, Sea Of Stars, Tchia.

Shame that for this version of Outer Worlds, you can't import your save. 😔 Truly Spacer's Choice

darthv7265d ago

retribution was a cool game. It's the only one that allowed you to link a DS3 controller using Resistance 2 to play it (as far as i know). It was an interesting experiment that didnt offer 2nd analog support though but Im betting this version does.

Eonjay65d ago

Good point. One assumes that is the reason for the delay on releasing it.

ChasterMies65d ago

Joke’s on Outer Worlds Spacers Choice. I quit after the first planet in Outer Worlds.

MaximusPrime_65d ago

Glad I didn't buy NFS rebound. I expected this to be on PS Plus.

ravens5264d ago

Unbound lol. N I got it for 15 physical, 🤷🏽. I'll take it. Jus got extra this year for $80, which is a great deal. If I can pay $80 on sale every year I'd stick with Extra. I don't mind buying a game but then it shows up here cause then I can download it to have it digitally but still have MY copy. Once they take it off I can still play it.

Eonjay65d ago (Edited 65d ago )

You can say what you want about day one purchases but besides that Plus really blows GamePass out of the water.

NFS, Outer Worlds and 4 different Tales of Games... and Retribution. And you throw the monthly games on top of that... its no competition.

BTW... how is it that no one realized that Microsoft could just put its games on Plus. No one seems to realize that Microsoft and Sony are now working to enrich each other. (Console ware is over)

darthv7265d ago

Sadly, Retribution is only for premium users... not us extra folk. I do have the original UMD, but it would be nice to get it digitally like i did with killzone liberation and stardust. Both of which i already owned digitally on my Go/Vita and it was cool when those were made available for the PS5 as then i could dl them.

Eonjay64d ago

This is one UMD I never had but thats really awesome you still have an original.

ChasterMies65d ago

How can Game Pass be the best deal on gaming when it is more expensive than PS+?

badboyz0965d ago

Plus you need a platform to.

Petebloodyonion64d ago

Gamepass PC is way cheaper to PS+ and even way cheaper if you use MS rewards points

Redgrave64d ago

Is that Jet Moto 2, under Resistance? As of writing, it's just an image and no text.

Redgrave64d ago

It's been fixed, and yes it is

Toecutter0064d ago (Edited 64d ago )

Why is the Killzone series still M.I.A? I still love playing splitscreen co-op of KZ3.

MrBaskerville64d ago

They did release the psp top down shooter a while back. So it's not completely forgotten.

Added to my account. Probably won't have time to play but hey can't say no to a freebie 😂!

JEECE115d ago (Edited 115d ago )

I'd rather pay for a game on Steam than have it free on Epic Games Store.

JEECE115d ago

Tell me you love Fortnite without telling me you love Fortnite.

Jingsing114d ago (Edited 114d ago )

Some people just want capitalist communism and for Steam to have no competition. All of a sudden investing over a decade into 1 digital store front or having all your eggs in one basket looks under threat as the competition heats up. Now they are starting to see the potential pitfalls of what if Steam were to lose in the long run. The best solution was always the one we had right now. Library in your home and go to physical or online stores so no one has complete control of your loyalty or media. (Physical Media).

JEECE115d ago

Nah, I dislike having tons of janky clutter on my computer. I'd certainly be willing to pay for a game I really wanted rather than get it for free if getting it for free means embracing janky clutter. It's like getting something "free with ads." The ads are their own type of price.

mkis007114d ago

But EGS isn't even janky.

ocelot07114d ago

I'll just claim it and then never see the egs until I need it next. Same as I do with steam. Why use multiple when GOG Galaxy is a thing?

franwex114d ago

For some people it's Steam or nothing. I too use GOG Galaxy. It even has my xbox stuff.

darksky114d ago

There is nothing wrong with EGS. I have GOG Galaxy, Steam and EGS running and the pc is not struggling or crashing. I have more games on EGS than Steam due to all the freebies. It's good to have options other than Steam.
