While I dont prescribe to it being suspicious, in EAs case, they have a bad habit of bad releases. On the other hand, they also receive a lot of grief regardless of if their game is steeped in controversy, so I can also see why they'd want to avoid that a week from release.

Pretty much all aaa's have embargo's nowadays regardless of the publisher.

Yes but usually they let reviews come out few days before release but some of the shady publishers hold back reviews until day of release

Doom 2016, Astrobot, Dishonored 2, Zelda BOTW. All these games had a release day (or extremely close to it) review embargo and yet still got great scores. It's not always about hiding a crappy game until the last minute. There are lots of reasons a company might choose to do it.

I don’t thinking pushing back the embargo has that much affect on sales anyway. People who want to see some reviews before they buy are gonna wait no matter what. And people who made up there mind will preorder. At the end of the day if the game sucks the sales will reflect that.

I bet this will be a solid game. Respawn has released 3 games . Apex legends 89 meta, Titanfall 2 86 meta and Titanfall 86 meta. Pedigree matters and this team has shown the ability to deliver. It could be awful but I’m willing to buy it day one without reading a single review. I love star wars and it’s about time we get a new single player game.

Pedigree doesn't matter. A lot of successful dev's have had flops. Truth is you're only as good as your last game. Remember when Bioware had pedigree? Bethesda?

Pedigree does matter, it's just not as simple as the name of the studio. Bioware was already going downhill before Anthem, we knew this based off insider reports written on the company and major staff departures. Bethesda was a more egregious case but they were also going downhill, albeit to a much less publicized extent.

I think it's important to note the context in all these situations. Having a shitty publisher and management can bring even the best companies down (ex: Blizzard). Respawn is a great developer but they're also not a safe bet given that EA is calling the shots.

It's rare to find a sure fire success, personally I'd only preorder if it's Nintendo or Sony's top tier first party studios, CDPR, or From Software (if Miyazaki is onboard).
