They are two wildly different experiences. Those that say that Xenoblade is better are just fanboys who want to excessively praise something that is already great (in this case, Xenoblade).

Those that say that it is not even close are just haters that don't want to admit how good the Xenoblade games are. Probably because it is a Nintendo owned IP.

Fact is, classic FF and Xenoblade are both great RPGs, but play totally different. You will find some that like both, and others that prefer one over the other. To claim either excessive praise or pointless downplay is just foolish in both cases TBH.

The series started to chug for me when 13 came out, and 14 was a big disappointment to me. But even FF12 is still a great game and most of the previous games were stellar. FF might not be what it once was, but few series stack up against it, much less surpass it. I can't really say the Xenoblade is one of those.

I've played them all. As for the recent ones, Xenoblade Chronicles has an impressive world, story, and characters, but some of the worst side quests. Wasn't fond of the battle engine. XC2 was just bad imo. X was pretty good, but not as good as the original. The original could be described as better than some of the worst FF games, but the series as a whole? Not a chance.

Of course, opinions are opinions.

The XB series is fantastic. It's better than FF has been in almost 2 decades but comparing them to SNES/PS1 era FF. FF takes it. I don't like to compare XB to another series and proclaim better. It's a great series on its own. If I were to comapre it to any RPG series. I would say XB is the closest we have to mainline Phantasy Star games again.

I prefer xenoblade because of the huge world's that you can explore as you like with decent story. Ff15 wasn't bad in terms of combat and exploration but the story was terrible. Xenoblade is definitely better than the newer final fantasy. The classics are classics so their untouchable.

For me the bad thing about the games in the Xenoblade franchise is something most people consider a good thing: their length.
If after 60 hours of playing it (completing at least the most important or interesting side stuff) I'm nowhere near the end, it's just too long.

Even so, I agree that they're much better than the most recent FF games. I didn't love a single FF game after FFX.

A fair argument can be made regarding ff13 and 15 as there not very well received, but as far as the classics ff 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and final fantasy tactics, naw chief you got yourself twisted up here. Xenoblade doesn't come close, hell xenosaga and xenogears are better games then xenoblade.

God FF13 was bad i try to pretend it don't exist. Xenoblade 1 was a amazing game. I play rpgs for there storys not there grafics. FF15 is a great looking and fun game but its story is fragmented and don't hold up against games like FF6 or FF7. Imo
