I'm afraid so, MGS is my fave series but with Kojima gone and Konami the way they are the series is dead😔, at least we got MGS4 which was a fitting end to such a incredible series.

ApocalypseShadow1632d ago (Edited 1632d ago )

It was very fitting. That's where I stopped. I'm surprised Konami hasn't ported the game to piss Kojima and the team off. Wouldn't put it past them.

But is Metal Gear dead? Yup. When the creator and team aren't making it, chances are, you're not going to successfully resurrect it. They can reboot it but then it's no longer said game anymore.

Knowing them, it'll be a casino game where you're sneaking around collecting casino chips. If you get caught, it's game over. Put some more money in.

LMAO don't give Konami ideas, but i would love a remaster of MGS4 for PS4 or PS5.

umair_s511632d ago

Yes I'd love a PS4 remaster as well.

Fist4achin1632d ago

That's awesome! Pachinko Gear Solid

rainslacker1632d ago

It should have been done at 4. Kojima didnt want to proceed past 3. It was obvious he was stretched for ideas on the story for 5, while 4 was basically just closure for the rest of the series

"Is The Metal Gear Solid Series Done For Good?"

No. but most of the fans though are done with it.
they could at the very least release a remaster or remake of the series.

rainslacker1631d ago (Edited 1631d ago )

I'm personally done with Konami myself, and it's hard to imagine a proper MGS game without Kojima at the helm. I'm sure there is someone out there capable of carrying on his legacy, but he knew what he wanted from the series, so anything after that would be more like fan fiction. That wouldn't make it bad per say, but it'd be hard to take it as cannon.

A remaster would be alright I suppose. I was looking at it more from the viewpoint of new entries in the main series....disregarding things like Survive, which was a nonsensical use of the franchise, albeit not part of the solid moniker.

criticalkare1632d ago

I am just hopeful for that rumored bluepoint mgs remaster or remake

Spurg1632d ago (Edited 1632d ago )

it's been remade already. There are more pressing games that need remake. Plus MGS isn't relevant to Konami anymore so a remaster is plain useless and would give false hope for a franchise that is practically dead.

Chumdiddy1632d ago

I wouldn't call that a remake, not in the sense of how the fans want one. That was...something else with Twin Snakes lol

it still count as one. same environments, same plot. 98% same voice actors.

yoshatabi1631d ago

That wasn't a remake. More like a remaster

2pacalypsenow1631d ago (Edited 1631d ago )

That was a full on remake, wether you liked it or not.

bishup251631d ago (Edited 1631d ago )

Twin Snakes is a remake.

"To make again or anew."
"4. anything that has been remade, renovated, or rebuilt."

A remaster is taking original content and enhancing it.

@tech5

Sure but it's more of a remix than remake. That wasn't the same game, assets or not. That's a remix.

PS: why in the hell is it still impossible to reply directly on this site? Haha. Just allow each comment to have a reply to it. It doesn't seem hard.

Traecy1632d ago

If Kojima doesn't have anything to do with it then the body & soul of MGS is pretty much done.

Veneno1632d ago

Konami would have to find a director as good or better than Kojima. Good luck with that.

ShinRon1632d ago

i think most ppl realized that after MGS Survive came out

I’d have taken a few of those out. Prefer Sonic over Sonic 2. Outrun should be in there. Maybe even Pong as millions of people had fun with that even if it was repetitive. Final Fight pipped any Streets of Rage game, although Streets of Rage had the better soundtrack. Too many to list l guess. To me, retro gaming is the 1980s, maybe going into early 1990s.

Agree that the generational gap is too broad to really make a strong list. Need to tighten the years a bit. Hard to compare Pac Man with N64 games.
