Bayonetta was released 10 years ago, on October 29th, 2009. Thanks to the continual support of fans over the years, the series has flourished on a variety of platforms and is still going strong a decade later.
PlatinumGames has released the first of a four-part documentary examining the development of Bayonetta 3. It's jam-packed with fascinating anecdotes from the team, including a rather surprising revelation from the game's director, Yusuke Miyata.
Miyata confirmed that Hideki Kamiya, creator of the Bayonetta franchise, approached him directly to offer up the role of the sequel's director. However, instead of jumping at the opportunity, Miyata was initially hesitant and was worried that Kamiya himself would interfere in the project too much.
Fans of Bayonetta rejoice, a number of official shirts, phone cases, and more based off the various entries were revealed. - IS
PlatinumGames and Nintendo talk Bayonetta Origins development and how it was in the works right alongside Bayonetta 3.
Bayonetta was going to be included in the Sega crossover kart-racing game Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed as a playable character, but according to a forum post from the developers, she was scrapped because the developers had trouble trying to keep her in-character without the ESRB/PEGI rating potentially going up.
Funny how Bayonetta was able to be included in SSB4 & SSBU. Nintendo somehow managed to get Sega’s character into their own crossover before Sega themselves. Hell Nintendo even somehow managed to get their own characters into Project X Zone 2. a crossover primarily featuring Namco, Capcom, and Sega characters before Sega could include their own Bayonetta.
I wish Sega would include her in more of their crossover titles. Dx2 Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation is a start at least.
