Luigi's Mansion 3 Review - IGN

Luigi's Mansion 3 is so much fun, so charming, and so smartly designed that, moving forward, I really hope we get more than three of these games every 20 years.

They gave Dark Moon a better score? Really?

This one looks way better and actually looks like a true sequel to Luigis Mansion. Dark Moon changed too much compared to the first one and was on a much smaller scale.

meh, I enjoyed Dark Moon for what it was, but am definitely looking forward to this third entry. It probably wasn't the same person who reviewed both games, so who knows at the end of the day, lol.

It was a sequel. What did you want the same game? Dark Moon was fantastic and improved upon the original in every way, not sure why you're being weird about it.

Oh it didn't improve that much, having smaller little sections rather then one huge mansion to explore was silly. It felt like levels, the best part of Luigis Mansion was getting to explore a huge place and unlocking new rooms as you progress. Not finishing a level then quickly moving onto the next.

This one however does what the sequel should have done to begin with.

Plus no one asked for 3DS handheld only sequel when you had the Wii U lacking content.

Im with Fox. Dark Moon doesn't have the same level of atmosphere as the original, the music isn't as good, and I don't like the level-based progression. Maybe it makes sense to do that for a handheld title, but it's less interesting than navigating the mansion and approaching it in the more metroid-like way that the original did. Like oh, i got the fire/ice/water ability, what if i go back here and try this - that's what's better about the original. The portrait room was also cool.

I don't think dark moon is bad, the art style is good and it's a charming game but I can hardly remember anything about it. I remember plenty of the bosses, settings, and music from the first game.

I don't know anything about the new game or how it plays so can't say much about the score.

Dark Moon opted for a campier feel with a little more comedy substituting the more creepy nature of the first film. I can see why it turned off some people.

For Switch, 2017 is still my favorite with BOTW, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Fast RMX, Splatoon 2, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, Arms, and Mario Odyssey. But I will say so far 2019 has been better than 2018. Super Smash Bros was the only Switch title I bought last year.

If you’re gonna grab a Switch, don’t forget to put Fire Emblem Three Houses and Astral Chain in the basket as well. Those are two of the greatest games on the Switch.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Astral Chain, Super Mario Maker 2 and Zelda Link's Awakening were all released this year. Counting Luigi's Mansion 3, this amounts to one good exclusive game every 2 months.

I'm not a weeb so I don't even know what any those three games are except for Mario maker and Zelda but again I've already played Mario 10 years ago and have no interest in an outdated arcade version of Zelda, so my point still stands.

Fire Emblem is the only one that I would considered "good" on that list. Astral Chain was decent and the rest are mediocre.

I think it is a little bit odd for just an 83 with how much praise is in this review. Not a bad score and there's a ton of 90s. Definitely going to fit this into my Outer Worlds time.
