Exactly. If I had PS4 only, I would be tempted to get PS5 first as it's just 6 months after release of this game (likely be a launch PS5 title) but spoilers would be hard to stay away from.

Luckily I have PS4 Pro so that's good enough for now. The spoilers for this game will piss me off to no end of some jerk off comes out and just splurges all the info in a headline just for clicks, that's happened before.

Exactly what I'm gonna do! I don't particularly like to buy games twice but certain games just have a level of quality and are incredibly immersive and fun that I will get the remaster or what not. I did it with the original and I'll do it for God of War, HZD, Uncharted, TLOU2, Death Stranding and Ghosts.

Now some may not see cross gen support but I imagine all the big ips will at least get updates to bump up resolution and FPS.

I want mind if Death Stranding, TLOU2 and Ghosts see cross gen versions because I'll play them twice. Once on my Pro and then on PS5! He

That and it won’t re-release 4-6 months later on PS5 when it’ll be fully compatible with ps5. They ported ps3 Back catalogue because it wasn’t compatible ps5 is fully BC with PS4 at least from what I understand so it’s not gonna happen not to mention if naughty dog wanted the extra power they’d have waited they obviously feel PS4 has got more than enough left in the tank. Why spend money porting to another system when it’ll work on both in its current state. They not gonna launch a new console and a whole new generation with a port 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦 🏻‍♂️🤷🏻 ‍ ♂️😂

Was very different on PS4 where one it had been out for about a year not to mention was physically impossible to play on PS4 until they ported BC on ps5 no port pretty much common sense and logic would tell you they ain’t re-releasing the same game within 6 months. Even GTA5 was a year later and a new console which they obviously wanted the extra power. Naughty dog were more than aware of ps5 being imminent they decided to stick with PS4 if they were making ps5 version they’d say. Sorry we delayed wanna do both consoles wouldnt go down very well but yeah not happening so 🤷🏻‍♂️🤓 ✌🏻😜

There is a setting on the PS4P to enhance standard PS4 games which don't have any updates for PS4P.. It's called boost most if I remember quickly.

Not sure what all in includes, but know it can improve frame rate performance, and do some smoothing on lower resolution games. It's probably closer to the way PS2 and PS3 did modest improvements to older gen games. Since the coding between PS4 and PS5 are much similar than what we saw between different gens in the past, the improvements can be more fluid, sort of like how PC GPU's can make performance or graphics gains without any specific coding on the devs part.

Yes, your right.

Thing is, I can´t tell for sure but, as far as I can remember, the Boost Mode doesn´t work as intented. Some games had insignificant improvements on performance, others, not improvements at all, in worst case scenarios, it was causing certain games to actually run with worst framerates in comparisson with the PS4 version.

I don't disagree, but Sony has not defined their BC yet. And if the game ships with Checker boarding 4K, why wouldn't they release an ultimate edition around PS5 launch that had full 4K? Just because MS has visual improvements in many of its BC titles does not mean Sony will do the same. Sony has way more leverage to make gamers pay for improvements then MS does.

Again, I am not saying this is all going or not going to happen, I am simply saying it is counting the chickens before they hatch.

This game will have a month longer on the market for this gen, than the first game had last gen before the PS4 released. There will be over 100 million PS4 users when this game releases. Sony can reasonably expect to sell 15-20 million PS4's in the first year. That's a lot of players on the PS4 to just ignore because some of us forum goers think that it's smarter to make it a launch game.

Just because MS decided to move most of it's games to next gen doesn't mean Sony has to to compete. They'll either offer a PS5 patch(best solution), or re-release it as a remaster, or possibly just leave it to BC(unlikely). The patch allows people buying into the PS5 to have another game to buy when picking up the system if they didn't buy the game before, so essentially, it can still be a launch title. Any remastered version would likely be a GOTY edition with DLC content added, probably with updates for PS5. I doubt they'll have a full remaster release like the last game, although it'd probably make sense business wise to make some money. Consumer good will might be better though.

I play the first game about once a year. I'll get the 2nd for the PS4 when it launches. If there is a PS5 update I'll play it every year as well if it's just as good or better than the first. Given the way games get their hard modes now, might be a good time to revisit it on the PS5 for the grounded mode.

Firstly the experience is going to be exactly the same, whether its on PS4/PRO or PS5, even if the PS5 version has better textures and 60fps, simply because we have gotten to a stage where graphics have gotten good enough, where improving them, from this point forward, doesn't hugely improve the enjoyment of a game. So it is pointless waiting.

Secondly, a PS5 version seems kind of pointless. Part of the selling points of all these "Remastered" released of PS3 games->PS4, was so you could play those PS3 games on your PS4. Remasters of super old games like RE2, is a different story. With PS5, having backwards compatibility for PS4 games, seems a little silly.

Regardless, why wait until 2020 to play a possibly PS5 version, when you can play it in May and have the exact same experience.

For some people waiting may seem stupid for them. They really want to play the game. Don't think they should be trying to criticize those who want to wait, but consider that you have others saying that they should wait just because they think a PS5 version would be worth waiting for. No reason to consider that maybe there won't be a PS5 version, or that it may not be available at launch. Nothing known about if there will just be a update to make it better through BC.

The people wanting to play early just want to play the game, while those willing to wait for the PS5 are basing their purchasing decision on unknowns.

I have to agree, I know it would suck to wait but Sony should just make this a PS5 launch title and release it same day on PS4 like Nintendo did with Breath of the Wild and Twilight Princess.
