Playing it on pc but for how had the game looks it's pretty demanding.

Thunder_G0d_Bane2056d ago

The game looks great on my PC at ultra. Doesn’t come close to sweating my rig.

Spurg2056d ago

I can run it at 4k 60 at medium settings with only textures maxed. The pc options are lacking.
The game is really plain.

Si-Fly2056d ago

I think it looks shit. RTX2080Ti and 9600K at 1440p

Giblet_Head2056d ago (Edited 2056d ago )

It reminds me of Dishonored's style, and by that I mean stylized and borderline muddy looking for what should be less demanding than what they're asking of the hardware it's running on. Fun game though.

Razmiran2056d ago

It looks okay, but its definetly too demanding for how it looks

Cobra9512056d ago

I don't know what game ^^you people are playing, but it isn't the same one I am. It worked perfectly right from the start, and only needed a couple of tweaks to graphics settings to give me locked 60 fps at 1080p, on a 3-year-old middling rig. Find the OW Reddit page for more advanced graphics tweaks to eliminate chromatic aberration, depth of field, and TAA, if you want ultimate crispness. You can also sharpen the TAA rather than eliminate it altogether, which is what I did. I think the game looks fabulous. Smooth as silk too, once all the graphics data get cached into memory (if you have enough--16 GB does it for me).

In fact, here:

Surely the best platform to play on is the one you have :)

Fist4achin2056d ago

Yes! I was going to say the one that's in front of you.

Orionsangel2056d ago

I don't have a power house rig or anything...

Intel Core i5 (6th Gen) 6400
3.3 GHz Quad-Core
16gb DDR4 Ram
Nvidia GTX 1060 6gb

and I'm running it on high to very high settings as you can see here...

Spurg2056d ago

Should probably have mentioned I was playing it on 4k.

I have a solid rig at it won't run 4k 60 it would fluctuate at mid 40fps. For a game that does not look all that its pretty demanding. I was expecting 4k with seamless 60fps

Cobra9512055d ago (Edited 2055d ago )

Yeah, that's close to what I have too (i5-6500, same GPU, same RAM). Started out at Very High on everything, dropped shadows to High, dropped screen effects to Medium for reasons other than performance (excessive post-processing), and I'm locked at 60 fps everywhere so far, except when sneaking in grass. (When the foliage goes transparent, I take a noticeable hit to fps.)

Cannot complain. This game scales very well, and I'm grateful the devs didn't ignore the systems most of us use (like Remedy did with Control). Whoever expects unflinching 60fps at 4K without rendering compromises on any hardware currently available doesn't understand how much overkill 2160p truly is. Try 1440p. That's the sweet spot for the current state of technology.

Thunder_G0d_Bane2056d ago (Edited 2056d ago )

You’re running it on medium settings and saying it looks plain lol of course it would.

That’s why 4K gaming isn’t ready yet.

I’m playing at 1080p 144hz on ultra.

Spurg2056d ago

Thanks for the valuable insight
Gears 5 ran like a dream on 4k 60 with almost all the settings on max and that game was graphically intense.
For Outer worlds, the game isn't really all that and it not even running 4k 60.

Unspoken2056d ago

Gears 5 also runs on a Dynamic resolution and will scale settings back to maintain your preferred resolution. The rendering pipeline for post processing effects was also optimizeds. These combined is why it ran so fluid. Outer world's would need the same engine, devs, and assets to match it.

bluefox7552056d ago (Edited 2056d ago )

Plays great for me on PC, but it does have some weird frame drops occasionally. But yeah, it's a very pretty game, but I understand the criticisms, the visuals are a little dated, but it still looks pretty good.

Orionsangel2055d ago

I only have some frame rate drops after each load screen because the new environment is still rendering in, but it last like a few seconds. Once the environment is fully rendered it's smooth sailing.

yoshatabi2056d ago

What are you on about? I'm playing on ultra and it looks amazing

Playing on PS4. Runs great and I am having a blast.

Profchaos2056d ago

They are kind of different ones space age ones a nuclear wasteland. Comes down to personal preference

NecrumOddBoy2056d ago (Edited 2056d ago )

Yes. Better than FO4 for me. 4 was a giant disorganized mess. OW does quests so well and like New Vegas, there is a lot of grey decisions. But, it doesn't have karma designed to fail you. You can pretty much play how you want, and so long as you don't go on a murdering spree, you won't botch anything. You can legit play the entire game killing everyone though which is a cool level of freedom if you are a true devil.

Also, I have no clue how long the game is but I have only been to 3 areas and I have put at least 10 hours into it. This is still a massive title.

Outwards is like Fallout, Mass Effect, Bioshock and Borderlands all fused into one amazing game!

Mithan2056d ago

A little bit. It has definite better features, like Voice and the UI. Other things are not as good. If they had the budget of Fallout 4, it would be awesome though.

Still a great game

I'm actually playing two concurrent playthroughs...on both X and my Surface Studio due to the fact that they don't share progress. I have it running on Ultra at 2560x1600/40FPS on PC both look great though. Both through XGP...cant beat it.

ElementX2056d ago (Edited 2056d ago )

I bought it in the Windows Store to get Xbox achievements, screw the Epic Store! I haven't played it though, I'm currently addicted to Fortresscraft Evolved on Steam. :P

Both are going to underperform.
