PushSquare: “ Here’s something that I’ve been thinking about for some time: the PlayStation 5’s reveal event is going to be insane.”
I don't think Sony's E3 2015 presentation is going to be topped anytime soon. It brought three games onstage with mythical status -- The Last Guardian, FFVII Remake, and Shenmue 3, revealed Horizon Zero Dawn, and presented the first ever Uncharted 4 setpiece to the public. It also produced the best audience reactions in E3 history. It's arguably the best E3 conference ever.
The only thing I can imagine, that could even come close to the public reaction of the FFVII remake is a Half-Life 3 announcement. If it ever happens, chances are it won't happen at a Sony conference. So yeah 2015 is probably not gonna get beaten in the perception of the general public for a long time. The amazing thing is that Sony also followed it up with the 2016 conference, which was incredibly packed as well: God of War, Days Gone, Resident Evil VII, Death Stranding and Spider-Man got announced in that conference.
Do you honestly think that they can't top themselves by showing the system, then showing the games they have planned for that system? Would think a Resistance, Gravity Rush or Infamous squeal/reboot announcement would be mike drop moments. Personally, would love to see a space or flight sim along the lines of that Warhawk first promised to be.
Those three games announced during that E3 conference were on a completely different level though -- a long awaited game from the creator of SoTC, one of the most beloved games of all time, a remake of PS1's killer app and the game that popularized the JRPG genre in the west, and the continuation to a franchise long thought to be dead -- the series which established a lot of open world conventions that are still being used today. None of the games you mentioned come even close to the greatness of those three and it would take the likes of Half-Life 3 being announced in a future conference along with other mind-blowing surprises to surpass it.
The GAMES will be the true spotlight! Resistence? Too Soon Gravity Rush 3? Unlikely after disappointing sales of Gravity Rush 2 Infamous? Unlikely since SP is working around the clock with GoT for PS4 A new game announcement from Guerrilla is more likely, be that a new Killzone or Horizon sequels will be awesome Maybe Sony announce that they´ve acquired Housemarque since they´re working on a new unannounced AAA game Santa Monica also may announce their next project It would be nice if Japan Studio announce Demon Souls 2 or Bloodborne 2 games, but i doubt that they can handle those projects without From Software´s help. May they will announce some small A or AA title.
@I_am_Batman "The only thing I can imagine, that could even come close to the public reaction of the FFVII remake is a Half-Life 3 announcement." Nothing can beat Nintendo on public reactions! Period! https://www.youtube.com/wat... https://www.youtube.com/wat...
That type of thinking is called delusional.
Great E3 for sure but I liked 2016 better myself.
2016 was objectively better when you disregard fanaticism for one or another particular franchise.
I was in the theaters for the PS E3 Experience, and that show had people pumped. Theater was electric with excitement with people cheering and with some, jumping out of their seats yelling in excitement. I personally think the PS5 reveal will be closer to the PS3 announcement conference, but less focus on the new features, since they already announced many of them. But I think it'll show off more ways the new tech will make games better, instead of talking about them. Maybe show off any new features that they're working on to enhance the user experience....like share play on the last conference. E3 of 2020 will probably be a strong showing of games.
That was a memorable E3 for sure. But a PS5 reveal will be epic for me.
Seeing the new console and price fir the 1st time followed by gameplay trailers is super exciting, even for a 44 yr old gamer 😊
You know what im talking about. The “launch” is one of the best parts of gaming.
Yes, Shenmue 3, FF VII & Beyond Good & Evil 2. What a great day :) I started to be a gamer again because of those announcements.
I hope they reveal a new Ridge Racer. Hard to believe they skipped a generation
From Fallen Angel "the PlayStation 5 reveal event is going to be insane" My response : how do you know it will be Insane?? have you seen the ps5?? do you know what line-up of titles coming?? do you know what ACTUAL features is offered?? do you know what insane price point it will have??? Speculation and Guessing is "INSANE"
From Retroman "how do you know it will be Insane?? have you seen the ps5?? do you know what line-up of titles coming?? do you know what ACTUAL features is offered?? do you know what insane price point it will have??? Speculation and Guessing is "INSANE" My response: You use punctuation and capitalization in a ridiculous manner. To move beyond that, it is a pretty safe bet to say that the PS5 reveal is going be a very exciting event. We know the quality of the PlayStation exclusives, and that there will be plenty more to come from the studios that have produced them. Add to that the fact that PlayStation has the largest user base by far, and that those people can't wait to see what's next and you can pretty much guarantee that the event will be filled with energy. Electric even. Some may even say, "insane".
So Sony is going to half ass a console reveal? That's what your saying right? I don't think theres anything wrong with being excited for the reveal of new hardware. Im pretty sure Sony will have a big reveal for it since they had big reveals for pretty much any PlayStation that came before it. Whether or not the content of the event will suit your tastes is another question.
I don't think I disagree with anything in the article. You play your cards close to the vest especially when you have a great hand to play.
Please announce a sequel to The Order for the PS5. Please please please...
Yes! Please please please.
PS3 launch failed. Xbox One launch failed Could it be Sony's turn to fail next? Before anyone responds to my comment with the obvious, your comment failed. This is a preemptive strike against that future comment. Surrender!
Your mistaken though unless you meant the reveals, not the launch.
I dont think failure works in a rotation principal
What really worries me about the price of these devices is that Xbox One X still costs $500. In comparison, by this time next year, how much will that tech cost going into PS5 and Scarlett?
It will be huge for sure. But it will be missing one ingredient that really put it in a league of its own.........Microsoft........b lew it on its conference and what made Sonys conference so memorable....... it was the contrast between the two......yes they showed a lot of games and of course big on indies........but the price and MS focus on tv and drm really made it stand out.........Ms never fully recovered...........I don't see that happening twice........but with the new tech it will still be huge, because the games (in my opinion) are going to be a huge jump.......none of that target looking crap but what you'll see is what you'll get
Sony's E3 2106 was by far the best imho. That God of War reveal, Spiderman reveal, Death Stranding reveal, Days Gone reveal, Crash Bandicoot, the Last Guardian release date, etc etc. It was Sony's greatest E3, as that's when they decided to cut the fat and just focus on excellent games. That approach has lead to so much of their success this gen.
