Twinfinite Writes: With the release of Trails of Cold Steel III, we take a look at the Trails series itself, and how it sports one of the most ambitious narratives out there.
TSA's Miguel argues why you need to play Trails of Cold Steel 3 and 4 now.
Great series I'd encourage people to try out, but I'm not sure you should start with 3.
I was going to but 3 and 4 on PS4 but when I read they both were hitting PS5 I just waited. My problem is I have a shit load of games I have to work on.
my issue is that they are still very expensive games and those games are a commitment ha.
In Infinite Start's The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 3 review they revisit this classic to see if it stood the test of time.

Available now on PS5!
I own these games for PS4 but getting this version for PS5 anyway because I love the series. I preordered it at least 6 months ago so I wouldn’t forget. Hopefully they port the first 2 games together next.
I never played this series but am planning to pick the first one up for Vita and try it out.
Underrated series. That is all.
For perspective.
The manus script for Trails in the Sky: Second Chapter has more characters than the whole Wheel of Time series together.
Don't believe me?

Then imagine that there are 9 games in this series so far with similar amount of text or more like in the case of Zero. Ambitious is just the start of it. The scenario writer must write all day all year long to be able to keep this up ?_?
It really is crazy. It's like 10 games I think. Trails in the Sky, a trilogy. The zero series, a dualogy. And of course the Cold Steel Tetralogy. I think there were earlier games in the series, but unrelated to the current ones. These 10 games are each like 50-100 hour playthroughs without rushing too much, and all take place in the same game world, in the same relative time period. It's the most ambitious game story I've ever seen, by far. As someone who has been binging the series this year (first 3 t.i.t.s games, and just finished Cold Steel 1 yestderday, it's mind boggling how I missed out on this series. If you like Jrpgs, and have the patience for slower paced games with big, emotional payoffs at the end, then you'll love this series. The characters are mostly all great, the world building is like nothing I've ever seen, and the combat, while nothing groundbreaking is still quite fun. Super underrated games.
Also, while it's not required, I'd recommend playing at least the Trails in the Sky trilogy first. It gives you a really interesting perspective when finally jumping into cold steel. In T.I.T.S, Erebonia is depicted as this kinda evil, imperialistic, almost nazi like empire. When you start Cold Steel, you play as an Erebonian, and you quickly realize that things are far from being that simple.
