I might be in the minority but this game seems quite mediocre to me. Nothing about it strikes me as interesting.

Str8Chaos741651d ago

Totally agree and I was really looking forward to this.

rainslacker1651d ago

They got the poor aim of the storm troopers down though....so there is that.

Rogue Squadron sequel with VR support

A KOTOR sequel made by the same developer as the original (this Bioware is a disgrace to their legacy)

Battlefront 3 not made by EA

A game created by CDPR

TFU sequel created by Rocksteady

These are the games I'm looking for.

As I said in the other article with the same play on words, an EA Star Wars game will never be the game this Star Wars fan has been looking for. Bioware with the return of Drew Karpyshyn and and KOTOR 3 could prove me wrong but even after Anthem, I have little faith it'll live up to the original.

EA's entire design philosophy is just incompatible with my interests as a game. Designed with microtransactions from the ground up, big beautiful and extremely hollow gameplay experiences, designed for as broad an audience as possible. They're the Michael Bay of movies, the first couple of hours are great but if it went on past a certain point, you crave more substance that just isn't there.

Disney are as much to blame imho, I imagine EA and them get on really well, they threw a ton of money at Disney and Disney saw the amount of money they bring in and gladly accepted. If they cared about Star Wars in the gaming industry, they'd actively seek out to form deals with the developers who would do the IP justice and almost certainly put out a GOTY contender like CDPR.

This doesnt have any micro transactions nor online modes. So how can this be a game designed from the ground up with it. Your acting like an old hermit; so far previews are all glowing. I had a less than positive opinion of the game from the reveal, but with all these previews, I think this one is safe.

I agree I would much rather have an open license for Star wars though. Jist like marvel. Hopefully Disney will not renew the exclusivity when the 10 years are up, but will just license each game.

Being a skeptic after what has to be coming up to literally decades of greed from EA can't be overwritten by a few carefully constructed PR events. Unless Zampella is in full creative or has some other stipulation which prevents it, I'm not going to believe for a second they are happy to release a good game and be content with the profits that will bring.

This wasn't designed with microtransactions in mind though because it almost certainly started development back when Respawn were an independent company but EA owns their asses now and history has taught us they love to sink their teeth into the companies they buy and suck the creativity out of them.

I recall having similar discussions last year with Battlefield 5 and called BS on their ethical MTs too and knew there was going to be a catch. While I haven't followed the game so I don't know what the current state of it is but I checked out the reviews at launch and the basic consensus was that while it was still a great game, it felt like a full priced early access title.

Maybe this will be different, Zampella has years of experience dealing with Kotick after all and from more informal video previews you see with him, he clearly has a low tolerance for BS. Honestly though, I have faith ln Respawn's talent to make an enjoyable game but I won't trust any no MTs policy EA claim until at least this time next year when we can accurately gauge their honesty and see if they have any dirty tricks up there sleeve.

I'd rather have another KOTOR sequel by Obsidian than Bioware at this point. At least Obsidian still understands what an RPG is.

LOL Wait wtf? It literally is Star Wars Dark Souls from the sounds of it.

I was excited for this game. Not anymore. F*** that. Just cancelled pre-order.

The force unleashed was the star wars game fans was waiting on and then they ruined it with that terrible sequel.

They're not looking to acquire, but are they looking to be acquired? That's the big question now with companies like EA, T2, etc.

badboyz09266d ago

EA relies way to much on their licensed ip's which isn't a good thing for a Buyer.

I really want them to finish up Cal's story so LucasFilm are free to use him in a TV show or Film if he survives in the end anyway

Cal or Ezra should be rebuilding the Jedi Temple Order...not Rey.

CrimsonWing69266d ago

Please do. These Jedi games have been exceptionally top tier.

StarkR3ality266d ago

Other than their performance but yeah

CrimsonWing69266d ago

I didn’t really run into performance issues, but I played it on PS5.

neomahi266d ago

We don't want it, let someone else develop Star Wars

Tacoboto266d ago

1. Yes we do want it
2. One of the biggest recent announcements has been Star Wars Outlaws, developed by someone else.

all of those are good. I'd add some honorable mentions like Dark Forces and the original vector graphics arcade game.
