Love it or hate it, DLC has pretty much become the standard when it comes to game expansions. Is that such a bad thing? Nope, here is why!
Gary Green said: We’re finding ourselves in a similar position with the Pixel Remaster edition of Final Fantasy IV as we were with Final Fantasy III since, once again, we’ve received a slightly upscaled, more vibrant port of the original game when there’s already an expanded 3D remake available. As such, we’re playing a game which, even after its long-awaited release, still lives very much in the shadow of its remake.
If only they didn't screw ps4 owners over with a physical release. I'd have ran through this in a heartbeat.
The first one I played, it was the one that made me fall in love with JRPGs and is still my favorite to this day. A masterpiece
The Nerd Stash: "The Wasteland is unforgiving, and there are a ton of brutal ways to die in the Fallout universe. We listed out the absolutely worst ones."
While many are fans of the Honkai Star Rail story so far, The Nerd Stash believes that the deaths of Robin and Firefly no longer carry much weight.
Extending the life of your game is always a plus in my book.
Back in the days when we were calling them expansion packs, they were a good thing, since they started with the DLC name, they have been a s*** show for the most part.
In their current form, they mostly exist so the publishers can have a bit more extra cash on top of the hundreds of millions that they already have.
First it was horse armour, then it was online passes, then it was individual map packs, weapons, characters, then it was season passes, then it was multiple season passes.......what next, half a game? They have even tried to disguise an ending as an expansion back for some games. Does anybody remember the "expansion" for Prince of Persia 2008? That wasn't an expansion, it was the final part of the game, and they sold actually sold it as DLC, it's a joke.
So no, sorry, DLC isn't a good thing for gaming, well, not for the consumers at least. It should be, but there are too many greedy publishers in the gaming industry that have ruined any chance of it being good. We get good DLC now and again, but not anywhere near enough. DLC should be like GTA 4's DLC, actual expansion packs, not like fighting games that hold back characters and sell them to you at a later date through multiple season passes.
The only dlc that are good are fairly priced expansions that add on tons of content to an already content filled and complete game like witcher 3, horizen, and bloodborne. Most dlc nowadays are just crap and greedy trash, preorder and editions bs, and cosmetics that should be earnable in-game. Lol especially if its for a game with microtransactions, multiplayer focused games should just go free2play with the amount of greed they have.
I remember when dlc was downloadable content,, and wasn't on the disk
